What The Meaning Of My Tattoo Signifies to Me

Tattoos come in all different shapes and sizes with a different meaning. We get tattoos when we are living in the moment and want one, just because. We get tattoos to hide a scar or hide something we do not want to see. We get tattoos for the significance of a loved one. We get tattoos to remember a special moment or a special person, and there is no shame in that. Tattoos help people and remind people of better times, of happier days.

"My body is split in half. The left side of my body has to do with my astrological side. The moon on my left foot (the moon controls the tide). The sun on my right foot represents the world I live in now."-Carly Grosse

"This tattoo brings both realms together, the saying means that my body is just the physical piece of me which hosts all my spirituality, depth, and passion."-Carly Grosse

"I have been in the hair industry for 11 years and I love it. I love making people feel good about themselves. I can bring out all my artistic ideas on someone's head and have my signature walking the streets. I have legs coming out of the scissors because I used to be a huge pinup girl fan. A coworker helped me design this tattoo and it is absolutely one of a kind."-Amanda Sinacore

"This is my most sentimental tattoo because it is my horse's name. He was my best friend and my angel. I had him for 15 years and our bond was so strong. It was almost like we were in each other's heads when we weren't around each other. He has passed away and I miss him every day. No other horse compares. I have a crescent moon above his name because I would always call him "my moon, my light".-Amanda Sinacore

"On October 23, 2012, my mom passed away and this is for her. This song randomly plays and it's in that moment I know she is with me where ever I am when it's on."-Erica Chaholla

"Create. One of the most important things in life. "To evolve from one's own thought or imagination, as a work of art." There is an inspiration in every aspect of life when you use your imagination you open up your world into anything you want to become. Once that realm is opened, you can do anything you set your mind to. That is the definition of "create" in its simplest form, and it is one of the most beautiful concepts to grasp."-Michael Scimeca

"This tattoo is extremely special to me. This is my dad's handwriting from the last birthday card he wrote to me. He passed away when I was 16 and this is what he wrote in my birthday card. Having his actual handwriting on me is a reminder that he is always with me every day and a piece of him is everywhere I go. This writing shows that it's only to me and from him and that is what makes me feel even more special about it. I love it and wouldn't change anything about it."-Kyla Brown Hurley

"La vita e' Bella avventura(life is a beautiful adventure). I studied abroad all semester and just realized how beautiful life can be and how many adventures I went and how amazing my time was abroad in Florence and that is why I decided to get this."-Sabrina Pulizzi

"My sister wrote the font and my dad did the hearts around it. Every time I said to my mom "love you", she would say "love you more". My sister, my mom, and I all got it with me."-Sabrina Pulizzi

"To me, a lion represents strength, courage, wisdom, leadership, and loyalty. A lion has a heard of generosity and is always giving, sharing, and caring for others. He is the protector of his home and of his family. He provides for his family and raises his cubs to be strong and fearless. He pushes his cubs to be strong and fearless. He pushes his cubs to overcome challenges and achieve greatness. A lion is ready and willing to fight for the ones he loves. The lion deals with emotions that are difficult to manage such as fear, anger, and aggression, but he is able to conquer these emotions. He does not like to show weakness but accepts the support of others. To me, the lion is looked up to as a highly idealistic and prized guardian. He has the internal power to make positive changes in life and in the lives of those around him. The lion reminds us to hold our heads high in times of conflict. To me, the lion is a beautiful creature inside and out. To me, a lion represents my father."-Felicia LaPera

"Namaste. My soul honors your soul, I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the light, love, truth, and beauty and peace within you because it is also within me. In sharing these things, we are united, we are the same, we are one."-Alyssa Downes

Each of you shared a piece of yourself with me. Your tattoos magnify who you are as an individual and make you who you are today.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
