To my loving mother,
I’m not really sure where to begin other than to say the two simple words of: thank you. Thank you for being there when no one else was, for listening to me vent during times it was needed, and for being the incredible woman you are. I love you for who you are and what you have helped me become. I try to tell you often how much I love you because it is important you know and are constantly reminded. I know there are some days where I may not show it; whether that is through my actions or words, but I really do, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being the person I look up to and the one I have always aspired to become. You have taught me how to be courageous, independent, kind-hearted, and different than the others. You are the strongest, most selfless woman I know, and you never fail to put others before you with the utmost love and care. You continue to practice your authenticity, integrity, and reliability every day and I thank you for that.
Mom, you truly are beautiful inside and out. Even though you may be blind to realize it when you complain in the mirror about needing Botox, or your hair colored; I see the beauty you hold within your character and I know the world does too. You have taught me how to push myself to greater limits, test my intelligence, and believe in myself during some of my greatest hardships. You are always the first to respond to a text or call when I’m in a slump, and you continue to answer my annoying FaceTime calls five times a day. Even though I push you away thinking it is sometimes for the better, I always come running back fast and there is a reason for that.
Life is difficult, and sometimes a very scary place, but you, and the encouraging person you are, make it much brighter. I never truly appreciated our relationship until I was given the biggest life change: my first semester as a freshman in college. I knew two weeks after I was all moved in, that I lacked the physical and emotional comfort I always had with you by my side. Our relationship has become stronger than ever, and I know it will continue to grow as well as have it’s ups and downs throughout life’s course.
Lastly, I want to apologize for all the times I have disappointed you or upset you. The times when I would choose to hang with my friends over playing a game of scrabble with you, or going out to the movies. I have gained the most appreciation for you and know that in the end you will always be the one who has stood beside me. You are my person, and I promise to never let you down. But even if I do, I know you will always love me and be there to pick me right back up. I love you to the moon and back times a million. I will never be able to express enough how blessed I am to call you my mom, but I hope this gives you some perspective.
