Football's Back!

As we all know football is back! And most of us are more than excited, because football season is the best season! You get to gather in front of a big flat screen tv with a crazy amount of food and a beer or your drink of choice in hand gathered by friends in their football jerseys. Some friends routing for the same team and some routing for the other team. But you also have the people that were forced to watch it, the people there because they decided to jump on the bandwagon, and then the people that have no idea what’s going on and don’t know if it’s a basket their waiting for or a goal to be scored. But everyone knows the more people at a football gathering the better.

Among the group of people, you have the person talking about teams that aren’t even playing, the person asking a bunch of questions, the person arguing about a play/ team, the person trashing on the team the majority of the people at the gathering are routing for because they know it’s pissing people off. But we all know when there’s a major play and something big happens every single person in the room is going to jump up, yell, or shift in their seat with their eyes glued to the tv. And my favorite, is when there is a bad play and one guy jumps up, spills his drink, yells at the tv so much that he ends up spitting everywhere. The refs have been killed in many viewers minds every single game.

To all the people that aren’t football fans, yes we know we look ridiculous yelling at the tv as if the players/ mostly refs can hear us and we know you think were obnoxious. But you also don’t understand how exciting is waiting for the game, especially on Sunday nights, putting on your favorite football jersey and gathering with friends. And you also don’t understand how awesome it is to watch your team win and to be able to do that really awful victory dance at the end, hug your friends, and to be able to tell people that that’s your team. So to all my fellow football fans, we’re back and I wish your team the best of luck but just know my team is going to kick your teams ass! Lets go Patriots!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
