Being sick in general sucks. You don't have the energy to function, you're grumpy, you feel like crap, and all you want to do is lay in bed and eat some homemade soup.
Being sick in college, though, is a whole different story. Once one person gets sick, so does everyone else on campus. T'is the season to have that nasty cold! If you're in college, you will agree that being sick in college is the worst thing ever, for many different reasons.
1. You want your parents to take care of you.
No matter how old you get, there's something to be said about the comfort you feel when your parents take care of you when you're sick. They might make you soup, pick you up some medicine, nag you to drink more water, or even just keep you company while you're miserable; they make being sick just a little more bearable. When you're in college, you're on your own. You have to make your own soup, pick up your own medicine, and listen to your mom's voice in the back of your head telling you to drink your water.
2. You want your dog to snuggle you.
Missing your dog while being away at school is inevitable. When your sick, it only gets worse. You want to sleep all day cuddled up with your pup, and knowing that you can't makes you miserable.
3. You can't function.
You have to force yourself to get out of bed to go to class. And if you can't do that, then you skip. Once you skip, you have no motivation to do your homework. If you don't do your homework, it piles up on you and you stress out. Now you're sick and you're stressed. Great. There's no time to be sick in college! There's too much to do!
4. You have to walk all the way to the dining hall to get food.
You feel awful, you look pale and weak, and you are so hungry. The worst part? you have to walk all the way to the dining hall and be in a room full of people. All you want to do is eat in the comfort of your bed. Preferably some homemade soup. Doesn't that suck...
5. This plague is a vicious cycle.
After you get sick, you will probably pass it to your roommate or someone who lives on your floor. Then, they will spread it to someone else. It will probably come full circle and hit you again because you all live so close to each other. There's no getting away from it. Run for your life.
