5 Celebrities Who Take A Strong Stance on The LGBTQ+ Community

Their support, acceptance and love has reached the hearts of millions.

Life for members of the LGBTQ+ Community is never easy. We can endure ridicule, bullying, discrimination, assault, exile, and sometimes even execution just for trying to live our lives the way we we born to. It takes a lot of courage to be able to stand up and say I am different, and that I am proud of my differences. Sometimes it can get so hard that we can't make it completely on our own, and we need the love, help, and support of family, friends, and even celebrities. For us to see someone with such a huge audience and voice stand up and speak for our right to equality, it truly means the world to us, because it shows that there are people out there that truly care. Here's my list of a few of my favorite supporters:


1. Miley Cyrus

Miley founded The Happy Hippie Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is: "To rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations." There is such a strong sense of love and support comes from the stand Miley is taking to help the community!

2. Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel works alongside The Trevor Project, which provides "Crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24." An amazing commitment to the community's troubled youth!

3. Nick Jonas

In a recent Huffington Post Interview, Nick, when asked about the attention he receives from the gay community, said, "'I love it; I’m thrilled by that.'" He continued, "'That’s a community that I love and have embraced, and [they’ve] embraced me...I love them. They’re so supportive.'” Good to know he loves us as much as we love him!

4. Demi Lovato

USA Today's article states it best when they deem Demi a "Former Disney princess [turned] queen of gay-rights activism." Demi made a supportive video with the Human Rights Campaign stating "I believe that love comes in all different shapes, sizes, and colors, so whether you're LGBT or straight, your love is valid, beautiful, and an incredible gift." Pairing with such a huge LGBT organization proves Demi's commitment to fighting for the community!

5. President Barack Obama

President Obama went down in history as the very first President to vocally support same-sex marriage. Yahoo News reports in a recent article that in an interview with Robin Roberts from ABC News, President Obama stated "at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married." President Obama went on to sign the bill to make same-sex marriage legal! Huge turning point in our nation's history.
