If you're anything like me, sometimes you favorite thing to do is to lay in bed and binge watch Netflix. After finishing my first year of college I did nothing but that for days. Eventually, this gets old and it gets old fast. I've compiled a list of things I have done during this summer and things I hope/plan to do. My advice for the summer time is to make the most out of it. It's really easy to lie around in bed -- but trust me, you could be doing something way more awesome.
1. Get a job
I know what you're thinking, "That is definitely not fun." Sure it's work, it might not be fun. But having your own money and being independent sure is. Having a job this summer has allowed me to buy stuff for my apartment in the fall and helped me do other awesome things this summer.
2. Spend the night in a big city
Even if it is just for one night, you can find a pretty decent hotel for $50 and if you split that with other people it can be super cheap! Go have dinner at some hole-in-the-wall place and go adventuring that night.
3. Teach yourself a new language
You can study up on the language that you will have in the fall for school or you could just do it for fun. Teach yourself five words a day and by the end of the summer, you'll know hundreds of words!
4. Go volunteer somewhere
Always good for your resume but even more important than that, you can make a difference. Soup kitchens and pet shelters always need volunteers and you never know the impact you might make on a life.
5. Go to a music festival
This one is by far my favorite. I have met such amazing people from all over the world by going to festivals. Sure, sometimes the tickets can be pricey, but imagine all of the concerts you're actually seeing and add up the price of each ticket and you've actually saved tons of money. Go with some of your favorite people and I promise you that you will not regret it.
I hope that this list helps you make your summer one to remember. Perhaps you could add to this list and make it an epic summer! Life is way too short to not go out and have some fun.
