Summer break is approaching and many of us are excited for the brief break from school. Some are headed off to internships, others work summer jobs, and then there are some who just take their summer as it is with no obligations. Regardless of which category you fall under, it’s important to have a Summer Bucket List so you can enjoy the warm weather even while you are working a job or internship. We may be (almost) living in the “Adult World,” but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have some good childhood fun. A bucket list gives you a sense of accomplishment once your break is over, and you’ll have a bunch of great memories to reminisce about with your friends when you get back to school next semester. Your list doesn’t have to have anything extravagant or big, after all, not many of us have that much time over the summer if we’re working or interning. Here are 21 things to consider adding to your Summer Bucket List so you can kick it back to the good ole days.
1. Tie-Dye Some Clothing
No summer is complete without wearing some tie-dye, so go ahead and make your own.
2. Have A Water Balloon Fight
Throw it back to your childhood and have a water balloon fight with some of your friends.
3. Be Ambitious With A Paint Balloon Fight
If you want to get more creative, fill balloons with some washable paint and have a color war.
4. Go For A Hike
Take a couple of hours to hike a trail, whether it be local or a bit of a drive, you'll be happy that you took the time to surround yourself with nature.
5. Take A Day Trip To The Beach
Sometimes it's hard to plan vacations, so take a spontaneous trip to the beach for a day. The sound of the waves crashing on the ocean are just what you need to distance yourself from work.
6. Create Your Own Summer OlympicsGrab a group of people and have fun with some friendly competition. Play some kiddie pool kickball, or race each other on a homemade slip and slide. The possibilities really are endless.
7. Go To A Local Fair
Chance are there's a fair relatively close to where you are. Go out for a night and play some carnival games or just enjoy the funnel cake!
8. Read A Great Book
I bet there's a book you've been meaning to read, but you keep telling yourself that you have no time to read it. Give yourself a half an hour every day to read a bit, and you'll finish the book sooner than you would think!
9. Paint A Masterpiece
So maybe we're not all great at painting, but sitting outside with a couple of friends and some paint and a canvas can lead to a really enjoyable time.
10. Visit Your Local Farmer's Market
This is such a great way to relax after a long week, and you also support local farmers. You can't go wrong with the farmer's market.
11. Have A Picnic
Get some friends together and enjoy a picnic. Don't forget dessert!
12. Pick Some Flowers
Liven up your space and put a smile on your face with fresh flowers!
13. Watch A Movie Outdoors
If you can't get to a drive-in movie theater, then grab a white sheet and make your own outdoor theater. Make sure you have some citronella candles to ward off those pesky mosquitos!
14. Go Stargazing
Pick a night when the sky is clear, and enjoy the natural beauty in the sky.
15. Have A Bonfire
There's probably no better way to catch up with friends during the summer than having a bonfire. Bring some skewers and marshmallows, and great conversation will follow.
16. Pretend To Be A Tourist
If you can't get out of town, or if you're feeling like having some fun with acting, pretend to be a tourist! Walk around town and learn about the history, or take pictures being a typical tourist.
17. Pick Fresh Fruit
Fresh fruit is one of the best things about summer. Find an orchard and bring a basket to pick your fruit. Fair warning, you may or may not put more fruit in your mouth than in the basket.
18. Make Something Out Of Fresh Finds
A fruit salad out of fruit that you picked by hand is so much better and tastier than anything you can buy in the store.
19. Go To A Waterpark
Public swimming pools can be questionable, and sometimes even waterparks can be, too, but if you find the right waterpark you can have a lot of fun!
20. Go Canoeing or Kayaking
Find a lake that rents canoes and kayaks and spend a day on the lake!
21. Have A Scavenger Hunt
You and your friends can make up a list of things to find or do, set rules, split up into teams, and have a photo scavenger hunt. When you meet back up to see who's the winner you're bound to have a couple of interesting stories to tell.
Don't let your Summer Bucket List gather dust! Get out there and do something fun and memorable so you can tell some great stories later on; You won't regret it.
