Freshman year of college is full of nerve-wracking firsts, exciting experiences and everything in between. There is no way one can be prepared for what will be thrown their way freshman year, especially during the first semester. Even though at least 75 percent of the beginning of freshman year is scary, stressful and downright awkward, there is certainly a lot you learn. Don't believe me? Well, let's just let some of the tunes of the past explain it all then.

Realizing that paying a tad more for an air-conditioned dorm would have been worth it. Sleeping on top of your comforter until October is so not ideal.

When orientation weekend comes to an inevitable end and it finally hits you that there is actual work involved in college.

There's always a hot professor.
5. "Dancing With Myself" - Billy Idol
Going to the club for the first time, realizing you hate it, and deciding you might as well make a fool of yourself because you're probably never going back but you already paid for tonight.
6. "Where is the Love?" - Black Eyed Peas
Receiving your first graded essay back from the most stern professor on the entire campus.
7. "MMMbop" - Hansen
Trying to make conversation with your new lab partner but fumbling over every world because you're socially awkward.
8. "Drop It Like It's Hot" - Snoop Dogg (feat. Pharell)
Realizing you should switch out of a very tough class before it's too late.
9. "Toxic" - Britney Spears
After less than a week of eating there, registering that the food at the dining hall is neither tasteful nor safe to eat.
10. "Creep" - Radiohead
Running into a person at a party that you never met face to face but follow on Twitter and accidentally mentioning their childhood corgi named Scrunchy who ran away in 2009 while they were visiting their Aunt Karen in Vermont.
11. "Ironic" - Alanis Morissette
The first time you spent hours on an assignment but forgot to post it online so you didn't get credit for it.
12. "Waterfalls" - TLC
Trying to impress everyone at the gym by attempting to bench your bodyweight then, after nearly crushing yourself to death, realizing maybe that just isn't realistic for you.
13. "I Miss You" - Blink-182
When your friends that are still in high school Snapchat you pictures of your favorite sandwich from the corner deli that you love more than life itself.
14. "Photograph" - Nickelback
When you see your best friend from home tagged in their new friend's Facebook pictures so you Instagram a touching #TBT to assert your friendship.
15. "Say My Name" - Destiny's Child
Calling your best friend from home after a week of being apart just to interrogate them about their college life so far sure and to make sure they still remember you're their best friend.
16. "Get This Party Started" - P!nk
Getting the "Class is canceled" email for the first time.
17. "The Longest Time" - Billy Joel
Finally reuniting with the beloved high school crew and acting like you all never went away to college in the first place.
18. "Everybody" - Backstreet Boys
Tearing it up with the college squad once again upon returning to campus.
19. "Numb" - Linkin Park
Showing up to your 8 a.m. freezing, tired, and boarder-line incoherent because it is now basically winter time, which means getting out of bed is even more of a challenge.

Ordering food but not wanting to walk down four flights of stairs to go get it...the epitome of laziness.

Being interrogated by your academic advisor about what exactly you want to do for the rest of your life every single day until you die.

That week when all of your professors decide to assign 397 pages of reading, four essays, two group projects and an oral presentation.

When your friends have the midnight munchies but you're down to the last Poptart in your food stash.

Fighting the vicious battle for the last seat in a lecture when registering for next semester's classes.

Getting the payment reminder e-mail from the University...again.

Realizing finals week starts tomorrow and you've spent a total of eleven minutes studying.

Trying to get yourself amped on your way to take your first final.

After taking your first final and realizing how different they are from high school finals.
29. "Under Pressure" - Queen (feat. David Bowie)
When you're not even half way through finals week and you're incredibly stressed and trying not to dive out the fourth floor window.

Handing in your last final and realizing you'll never have to think about that class ever again in your life.
31. "All Star" - Smash Mouth
Sitting on the bus home and reflecting on the fact that yes, you made pretty cool friends, yes, you didn't fail out yet, and yes, you survived your first semester of college.
