You fumble for the right thing to say. That's okay, you're not the only one. And it isn't that you stutter, or can't think properly, you just don't know how to string together the right words.
I feel it when I'm getting rather anxious; my tongue ties, my brain goes fuzzy for a millisecond, and I just can't seem to express myself. I know exactly how I'm feeling though, and I want the people around me to know, too.
I find that people think that because I can't explain to them why I'm upset or feeling anxious that they believe it's because I'm faking it. I can't be taken seriously, because to them I'm just trying to find the right way to trick you into believing my "excuse."
My jobs depend on me being able to voice my opinion and effortlessly express ideas in my writing. People look up to me to be their voice of reason and explain what they can't express, and yet here I am going through the same thing they are. Countless times I have sat at my computer typing and retyping my stories and articles because I can't properly tell my emotions.
As I'm sitting here typing, for the umpteenth time, I pause more than I write. I wrack my brain looking for a good enough word for a good enough sentence that I know that people can relate to. The world around me seems too loud, even the slightest squeak sends me into a mood where I can't do anything but delete everything I put down.
In the end, all it takes is a deep breath.
You're okay, trust me.
Deep breath.
