Finding Happiness

The Journey to finding your happy

Finding Happiness

Everyone always talks about finding your own happiness, but no one ever talks about how hard it is to find. Finding happiness is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The road to happiness has so many twists and turns that it seems confusing at times and the best thing ever at others. Finding happiness could even mean finding your "happy" in the journey to happiness itself. It all depends on the outlook.

Making hard choices to reach happiness are often the things that set you free from being unhappy. They might not look like they will pay off, yet they somehow always do. This seems so skewed yet, it’s usually what happens in my experience. Happiness is often what comes after making sacrifices to get to it.

Finding your happiness is a journey you have to take with others, because they are needed however, it is also a journey that requires you to go at it alone. Going at happiness alone seems risky and scary but it’s often where we find ourselves. Being at ease with who you are and people you’re surrounded with is key to happiness.

Sometimes you can get distracted or sidetracked on your way. Making wrong turns is a part of the journey. Getting lost usually makes you end up where you’re supposed to be. Letting wrong turns happen is okay, but not to the point where other people are controlling your happiness journey.

Other people should not control the happiness journey going on within you. Having the courage to do what makes you happy is why you’re on this journey right? You’ve got to make hard choices and do whatever it takes to create your happiness. You might lose some people on the way, make the wrong choice, or have a couple meltdowns, but in the end it’s worth it. It will all pay off. All of those things seem like the worst thing in the world, yet they won’t seem like that forever.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
