Finding Your Big, as Depicted by How I Met Your Mother

The emotional roller coaster that we all know as big/little reveal.

Finding Your Big, as Depicted by How I Met Your Mother

After going through all the stress of recruitment, you've made it. You finally found your place on Greek Row. You think the hardest part is over until you realize you get to learn 200 plus names and find your big. What does that even mean?! How hard can this really be?

You go on "sister dates" and try to bond with someone, anyone. Some of these lunch/dinner/coffee dates go great! You talk about a lot more than just the weather outside and maybe even find something in common. Others, don't go as well.

Finally, someone you recognize from recruitment Facebook messages you and asks if you are free to hang out at all during the week. You think back to past sister dates and with the fear of reveal approaching, you find a time to meet.

You both order the same food, laugh at the same awkward situations, and bond right away. You' ae not sure what the whole big/little relationship thing is like but you assume it's something like this. "OMG I've found her," you think to yourself.

What if someone else thinks the same thing and wants her as their big, too? The craziness sets in. You feel protective over "your potential big" and try to find out who else she has been on a sister date with. You causally bring her up with your friends and make sure you make your claim.

During big/little week, you get different clues in your basket and you begin to question if she really will be your big after all. You over think things and worry that maybe she didn't pref you. "That's not her handwriting on the note," you think. You try not to get your hopes up and tell yourself that everything will work out the way it's supposed to. "There were plenty of other people I liked, too," you think to calm yourself down.

Finally, reveal comes. This has been the moment you were waiting for. You open the huge box with your name on it and there she is! She is finally your big and you are her little. You cry and hug and laugh. You wonder why you were so worried in the first place. After reveal is over, you text non-stop and for the rest of the nigh.t

And you finally understand what a big and little relationship is like.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
