Finals Week As Told By Rory Gilmore

The sun is shining, the trees are budding, the flowers are blooming, winter is long gone and May is just around the corner. For most people it means that spring is finally in full swing, but for college students it means only one thing... Finals. The last hellish week of the semester before sweet, sweet summertime. If any one fictional character understands the train wreck that is finals, it's Rory Gilmore:

1. When your friends/family/room mates see you with all your ~stuff~ and ask what you're up to

Camping out at the table with your laptop, books, and endless pages of notes is pretty self explanatory, but they mean well.

2. When you're trying to study but people nearby feel the need to be as loud as possible

Whether you live on campus or off, there is always the risk of "inconsiderate" neighbors who interrupt your quiet study time with their loud music or partying.

3. When you go over your game plan for the next few days until all of your exams are over

Until the last exam is finished, you can find me with my nose in a book and that's about it.

4. When everyone asks how studying is going

I've yet to meet anyone who enjoys studying. It's not fun, but it's definitely necessary.

5. When anyone asks if you want to go out and do anything that could be considered recreational

Trust me, I really, really would love to go out and have some fun, but I'm trying to be a good student and put school first.

6. When you look at all of the study guides for your classes and it's got you feeling some kind of way

You try to make coherent thoughts, but your brain is just like: "uhhhhhhhhhhh."

7. When you realize there may not be enough hours of the day to properly prepare you to to take the final in that ONE class

"What is 8 hours of sleep? 2.5 hours is just fine, right??".

8. When you need to take a break from studying to grab a bite to eat

I'm sure there's a study somewhere that shows that people with tacos are significantly more happy than people without tacos.

9. When someone tries to distract you from studying

I personally love reading, but the sad stack of books that I have sitting on my dresser, waiting for me to read them will just have to wait.

10. When you can just feel time ticking away, bringing you closer to your final

The gif says it all.

11. When coffee is the only thing getting you through

Coffee is like a magic potion made especially for college students to help them pull all-nighters.

12. When you feel just a *tiny* bit of despair about your upcoming exams

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

13. When you just *can't* deal with anyone else right now

We all get those days where everything is irritating, including ourselves. It'll be fine once finals are over, until then, try having a snack.

14. When you're not really eating much "brain food" because cooking takes up valuable time

The first thing I'm doing after finals is eating some real food.

15. When you're tired of staring at endless pages of notes and your computer screen

You've got to accept that it's as good as it's gonna get and it's time to get it over with. You can do it!

16. When you pull yourself together and feel ready to give it your best shot

It's always good to walk into an exam feeling prepared, but on the off chance that you aren't prepared just make sure to fake it 'til you make it.

17. When you can finally relax because finals are FINALLY over!

Hallelujah, let the summer festivities begin!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
