“To me, 'Where The Wild Things Are' is a place that exists in our minds. It’s a place of liberty and shamelessness. It can take a split second or a lifetime to find it, but once you do, you’ll be free.” - Alessia Cara (Wild Things).

It's gone from words to guns.

From the shootings in Paris to San Bernardino, California to Orlando, Florida, gunmen went in sensibly to kill people because we are different.

In the mist of all the controversy, its important to remember that God made us who we are.

Plain and simple.

You were no mistake. Who you are, who you are meant to be and what you are meant to do to make a difference in this world is not by chance.

The way you look. The faith you live by. The social class you live in. The person you choose to be. The person you choose to love. The food you eat. The color of your skin. The place you choose to live.

None of that was a mistake.

God created the Heavens and the earth, the lands and the seas, the sky and the stars.

God created you.

How could He create anything less than perfect?

So embrace it. Love who you are.

The moment you decide to be yourself, accept yourself, value yourself, forgive yourself, bless yourself, express yourself, trust yourself, and love yourself is the moment when you start to live in true happiness and be confident with who you are meant to be.

"Strength lies in differences, not in similarities." - Stephen Covey

Why conform to society instead of being yourself? Why be a copy when you can be an original? Why let other people decide what’s best for you when you know yourself and what makes you happy the best? Why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary? Why follow when you can lead? Why settle for good when you’re destined for greatness?

Stand up. Stand out. Stand tall.

Do what makes you happy. Love who and what makes you happy. Surround yourself with the people that make you happy. Be who makes you happy.

So I beg you, stop listening to society and start listening to your heart. You deserve the love and the happiness.

Remember the people who fought for this freedom we so desire. The freedom to be who we want to be.

"We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves." - Malcolm X

"I know where I'm going and I know the truth, and I don't have to be what you want to be. I'm free to be who I want."
- Muhammad Ali

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase."
- Martin Luther King Jr.

"It's true. I can do anything and do it well because God loves me. It still humbles me."
- Maya Angelou

"The beauty of standing up for your rights is others see you standing and stand up as well."
- Cassandra Duffy

Be you. Be free.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
