I'm one of those "crazy" women who supports other women and believes in equality and, therefore, considers myself to be a feminist.

I consider myself to be a feminist not only because I am a woman, but because I see this incredible discord between women specifically. This insecurity of needing a man to succeed in life, or need a man to compliment them on their beauty, and for me personally I view feminism as accepting who we are, as women.

You bring up the word "feminism" and you are instantly met with judgment.

Judgment from men thinking feminism is women believing they are better than men, or extremists fighting for something that "doesn't need to be fought for anymore."

Judgment from women, who see feminism as a hate group, or a bold statement they don't feel comfortable putting their name behind.

Or what really gets me, is when individuals claim feminists cry "sexual assault," for mere attention.

If you feel so insecure as a man that you can't agree with feminism because you feel that you are being put down, get over it, because we know women and men are equal, rest in that.

If you have the audacity to put women down as a whole for things such as the "Me Too," movement, you're ignorant.

There are plenty of women with real stories, real pains, and if you think women ALL use "rape," as an attention seeker.

You might need to check yourself.

As a woman, I'm proud to be a woman.

It's as simple as that.

I'm a feminist because I believe in women, I believe in equality, I believe in women educating themselves, learning to be independent, loving themselves, and being free to be exactly who they are single or not.

That's all.

This isn't about being better than men, not needing men, showcasing sexual body parts for show or burning bras.

Because while I believe all those things are extreme if you take the time to understand why. Then maybe we won't think feminists are "crazy," and rather just look at them as a group of women who desire to be heard.

Whether society chooses to acknowledge it or not women have been sexualized, through commercials, movies, magazines, filled with stereotypes and unrealistic expectations. So, women, today fight against it.

We don't HAVE to be a housewife.

We don't HAVE to be sprawled out on a car holding a beer.

Our bodies are not objects, and if you know anything about human trafficking, you know that women continue to be seen as objects. This is a real thing.

We see it in the media, we read it in the papers, we watch it on the news.

As a feminist all I want is respect. Respect for who I am as a woman. And for women to ultimately respect and love themselves.

I'm the crazy feminist who wants equality.
