On April 13th, 2016, Kobe Bryant became a legend in Laker history by solidifying his retirement and playing his very last game. Kobe had a career that was undeniably great all the way up until the final buzzer scoring not 50 but 60 points in his very last game against Utah. Twenty years of his career finally coming to a close deserved a huge send-off and he certainly got one. Every celebrity in Los Angeles seemed to be there to wish him luck in retirement. The Red Hot Chili Pepper's Flea played the national anthem to begin the evening and it only went uphill from there. Even with a crowd full of celebrities, athletes and the elite of the elite, nobody could outshine Kobe on his special night. It was truly a fairytale ending to an amazing career as he said himself, "you can't write something better than this."
He ended the game with 4.1 seconds left on the clock and walked off with the entire Staples Center chanting and cheering "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe..." for the last time. In his speech he acknowledged how blessed he was to grow up as a diehard Lakers fan and grow up to be lucky
enough to stay with the Lakers during his 20-year career. He knew everything about all the Lakers who came before him and now he gets to be an unforgettable part of Laker history himself. Everyone may not be a Lakers fan or a Kobe fan but everyone who watched his send-off last night could not deny how much he deserved the win and the send-off. This amazing exit will be talked about for years and years to come because it is the end of an era in Lakers basketball and the NBA as a whole. Even Steven Kerr, Golden State Warriors coach was notified of Kobe's outstanding finale while his team was making history as well. Celebration swept the nation as Kobe's final shots were being fired and the Golden State Warriors set a new record making history at the same time. Announcers all agreed that the night was a great night to be a California basketball fan and a great time to be alive to watch this insane history in the making. The Warriors becoming the greatest team in the N.B.A was history in the making but still managed to be second in line to Kobe's final game.
Congratulations Kobe you proved that even with age you're still as amazing as ever. He really went out with a bang, scoring 60 points in 50 shots, and playing almost the entire game with no rest, you would never know viewing the final game that he was retiring. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
