Family 101: Samika Style
YouTube

With the little free time I have, I like to go on YouTube and watch people's "vlogs." One family I always gravitate to is the Anderson family, their channel name being "Samika Vlogs." I've been one of the fortunate ones that have known them from the beginning, and I have greatly enjoyed watching them grow and change as a family.

When they first started, it was just the husband and wife, Sam and Jennika. Sam is a sport-loving businessman (GO BULLS, CUBS, and BEARS) from Chicago. When he went to college at Brigham Young University, he met his lovely wife Jennika. She is the sweetest, happiest human being who also happens to be a phenomenal photographer.

Let me tell you, their love for each other radiates through the screen. Sam treats Jennika like a queen! For example, there was a phase in their vlogs when Sam would buy Jennika a bouquet of flowers on the daily simply just because. For Jennika's birthday last year, he bought her a wedding band for her ring AND RE-PROPOSED to her (I believe they were married for five years at the time, I'll link that video here). Talk about #relationshipgoals.

Well, they found out they were pregnant with precious Noah. Noah, besides the now toddler tendencies, is a very easy-going, intuitive, and overall happy child. His relationship with Sam, Jennika, and both of their families is so tight-knit and strong like super glue. I admire it.

Not only do I admire Noah's relationship with all of his family, but, even better, I enjoy his relationship with his younger sister, PJ. Penelope Jane. Firstly, can we just take a moment and obsess about how ADORABLE her name is?! It is such a simple name but it holds so much cuteness. She is such a precious six month old, always so happy and positive.

Now that I've dived deeper into the members of this family, we are going to move on and talk about the purpose of this article: Family. Ohana. Samika Vlogs is #familygoals. Not only their immediate family but how they've created a fan base that they treat as their family as well. I idolize their family values, traditions, and how often they visit with their family. This past summer, it had to be every other week that they were in a different place visiting family. They recently all came together in their home state of Utah for a family reunion, which I'll link my favorite vlog from that event here. You can see their value of family as their top priority through all their videos and it makes my heart so happy.

This is one of the many reasons why I love technology, the art of crafting videos, and vlogging. This family has set some of my aspirations of what I want my future family to be like. They are model human beings. I can see their compassion for others, their value of life, appreciation of the gifts others give them, and the love for the Lord and all of us through the screen. They use the art of vlogging as a forum to document their family memories. However, for us viewers, it is so much more than that. They show us what a real well rounded family looks like. A family with a healthy balance. I recommend you starting your day with a "Good Morning, sweet world" and watching Samika Vlogs, and I've attached their channel here. Happy vlog watching!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
