Fame Seekers, Actors, Or Just Plain Delusional?

The craziest contestants on 'The Bachelor'

Fame Seekers, Actors, Or Just Plain Delusional?

Many of you have probably heard of the Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor Pad/Bachelors in Paradise franchise. And if you have had the pleasure of watching an episode, you know they are drama packed and usually unbelievable. The usual consensus is that the contestants are actors or fame seeker, playing up the drama for more screen time and higher ratings. But after 20 seasons, the idea of the show being 100 percent fake is a little farfetched. However, when looking back at past contestants, it is pretty apparent that some are truly in it for fame, and some are plain delusional.

Kelsey Poe.

Kelsey Poe was a contestant on Chris Soules' season and earned the nickname "Black Widow" from her spine-chilling remarks. Kelsey lost her husband years before and appeared to be using her past to further her career on "The Bachelor." In an interview, she discussed waiting until the right moment to tell Chris she was a widow, adding, “Isn’t my story amazing? It’s tragic, but it’s amazing. I love my story.”

Kelsey did go through a terrible ordeal losing a loved one, but to exploit that on television is just plain crazy. And that craziness led her to have a panic attack right before the rose ceremony where she knew she was going to be eliminated. Cameras also picked up her whispering to a paramedic, “I’m gonna get a rose tonight, for sure.” And, for that, I conclude that Kelsey Poe went on "The Bachelor" to achieve some level of fame through her amazing, but tragic story.

Ashley Iaconetti.

Ashley Iaconetti was known on Chris Soules' season for being a self-proclaimed ‘KardAshleyian’ and princess. When Ashley’s dream princess themed date came for another contestant, she about lost it. But lucky for Chris, she came prepared, and packed a princess Jasmine-esque dress that she wore that night, anyways. Her entire presence on "The Bachelor" would point to her being delusional about meeting the man of her dreams on TV, but then she joined the "Bachelors in Paradise" crew. When she stepped onto the beach with her sister for "another chance at love" viewers got ready for a crazy episode. Although her sister’s presence was short lived, it was drama filled.

The two girls cried over everything and were constantly quarreling and bickering. When the other Iaconetti sister decided to leave and "go back to being a mistress," Ashley was left to pursue the man of her dreams. Too bad that man, along with most of America, thought she was crazy and delusional. After a couple of episodes the love of her life, Jared, broke up with her -- again! And Ashley decided it was her time to leave, as well. Sorry, Ashley, but you are straight up delusional, and comparing yourself to a Kardashian isn’t really an admirable quality, sorry.

Ashley S.

Ashley S. also known as "Onion Girl" was probably the most entertaining contestant on "The Bachelor." She also appeared on Chris Soules' season (sorry you got all the drama, Chris) and terrified -- not only him and the rest of the girls, but also America. Her crazy antics and obsession with onions left the world thinking she was a complete wack job. Ashley, I can honestly say that I have no idea if you’re actually crazy, or if this was all a scripted ratings spike. Either way, thank you for your entertainment and go on feeling empowered by pomegranates.

Courtney Robertson.

Courtney Robertson appeared on Ben Flajnik’s season and actually went on to win, before inevitably breaking off the engagement. I’ll admit that Courtney was one of my favorite contestants because she was down right awful, and still went on to win. She was open about her competitiveness and used her beauty and charm to win over Ben’s heart. She also used the ocean to her advantage when she invited him about for skinny-dipping. Although nothing was confirmed, it is very obvious that they consummated their relationship, on camera, in the middle of the ocean. Courtney however also made it pretty apparent that she joined "The Bachelor" for fame and exposure.

Tierra Licausi.

Tierra Licausi appeared on Sean Lowe’s season and was almost instantly hated by all the other girls, and all of America. Her eyebrows became infamous for always showing exactly how she was feeling (usually annoyed or over it). Tierra found the dislike based on her eyebrows very unfair since she "couldn’t control them and shouldn’t be judged based on them." Tierra is an example of someone with too much self-confidence who probably went on the show assuming they would just win. She was even filmed saying, “They said, ‘Tierra, you have a sparkle. Do not let those girls take away your sparkle.’” I love sparkles just as much as the next girl, but that’s a little ridiculous.

Erica Rose.

Erica Rose was a contest on Prince Lorenzo Borghese’s season, and although I wasn’t a bachelor fan back then I did watch her season of the "Bachelor Pad." Many people thought that she only appeared on the show for money and exposure. This may be true since she chose to go back on different dating show after already being dumped on TV once. But when she started talking about how great her legally-blonde type TV show would be, it was clear she was just searching out fame any way she could.

I do have to say, though, that these ladies shouldn’t be 100 percent to blame for their crazy behavior. It has come out multiple times that living in the bachelor mansion drives people to their breaking point. Marti Noxon, a coproducer of the show, "UnReal," stated that, “they are put in a house with no media, no music, no books, no magazines, nothing. Just each other and booze. So they literally develop a Stockholm syndrome, where the only way you get out is through the bachelor.” And Nixon is probably right, many contestants have come out saying that they were given very little to eat, but the bar was always stocked. So the craziness you see is mostly controlled by the producers of the shows for ratings.

So if you’re thinking about going on "The Bachelor" or "Bachelorette," make sure to pack something to do, and maybe some secret snacks, or you might join the list of the craziest "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
