Let me start of by saying this: Everyone is equal. Point blank. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. We are all human, and no man upon this earth has the right to look down on another man.
It’s crazy the amount of times that we see people in our society (whether that be at school, at work, or just out on the streets) treat others as if they are below them just because of how they look or what type of job they have. The color of your skin does not put you above others.Your gender does not put you above others. The money you have earned does not put you above others. Where you're from does not put you above others. The charity work you do, does not put you above others.
All men are created equal.
I have recently been in arguments on this subject. People saying, "How can you believe that everyone is equal? It is obvious that some people are better than others at things." That’s not what I mean. Obviously, we all have different talents and stuff that we excel at -- although some people refer to me as the White Trey Songz (by "some people," I mean just me). I will never be able to sing as well as him. Although I may excel at basketball, I will still never be as good as Kobe -- he is just better.
That is not the point, no matter what your talents are you should take pride in them, but these gifts do not make you better than others or give you a right to treat others like you are above them. Albert Einstein, one of the smartest men whom we have known on Earth, once said, “I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university.” This type of respect needs to be universal. No matter what a person’s accomplishments are or social status, we are all equal as humans. No life is more important than another’s.
Although achievements are great, life really isn’t about the accolades and fame. Life is about discovering your personal purpose and finding happiness, whether you find that in being a personal trainer, or President of the United States. We are all trying to live our own lives and there is nothing that puts you above another human being.
We need to get rid of this narcissistic way of thinking. It is good to have pride in your accomplishments and who you are, but you should never stick your nose up to anyone. Most of the time this judgmental way of treating people is more of a reflection on you. Who cares if someone has hit a few bumps on the road and maybe has not handled them perfectly? Instead of looking down on them for their mistakes or decisions, maybe we should offer support, or just let them live their lives to their enjoyment.
Who gives us the right to judge others? Once again we are all equal any ways so we might as well find ways to enhance the lives of those around us and know we are all humans and in this life together.
