Okay. I'm about to bippity-boppity-blow your minds for a second. Ladies, what if I told you that we are NOT the only ones pining for happy endings? As much of a shock as it may be, yes, most men out there are looking for their very own modern day fairytale. Granted, their dreams don't consist of dancing the night away in a pair of Nike glass sneakers or orange pumpkins being transformed into amped up jeeps (don't hold me to that...), but guys do secretly want to be swept off their feet just as much as we do. Talking about all the "mushy" details that go hand-in-hand with falling in love and dating might be viewed as frightening to the menfolk, but I want to be one of the first to let both genders know that it is absolutely acceptable to ditch the masculine ego, and go full blown Disney.
Women, breathe a sigh of sweet relief. There is no pressure to wear outrageously poofy gowns or style your hair with a fork (dinglehopper if you're fancy.), to be a princess in the eyes of your sweetie. The only job you have is to create a heaven for him on Earth until he moves on to the real one. Skip the ball and see a ballgame, forget singing to the birds and go on a karaoke date, don't get married after knowing each other for two days, instead, you can go...umm...yeah, just don't get married after two days. The point is, yes, fairytale land set the foundation, but you set the rules. Be encouraging, support him in everything he puts his pure heart and soul into, show him that you will gladly be by his side as he fights the dragons. Be his Belle, be his Ariel, be his Jasmine, and be his Aurora, but most importantly, be, for him, the "Once upon a time" that could end in "Happily ever after".
Okay men, now that your secret is out, I beg of you, don't be afraid to seek whatever, and whoever, it is that makes you joyful. It is possible to live out those tales that Mom read to you as a little tike. I can't think of one female walking that hasn't imagined herself as a true princess at one point or another, and that also goes for the ones who wouldn't dare admit it out loud. Don't keep letting us ladies have all the fun. The world is just as much your kingdom as it is ours and it's time that more males get behind the idea of writing the ending of their story as openly as they want. Also, while you're on the path to doing so, be sure to not let your pride get in the way of admitting you need help at times. As Hercules once said, "A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart". Love is leaning on one another when you aren't strong enough, and that will give you true strength. Being viewed as the "damsel in distress" isn't fun on anyone's part, but don't deny that you might need your Princess Charming to help rescue you from the tower that is your problems. So I say to you, guys, publicly live out your existence as if you are in a fairytale. We promise not make you wear a tiara.
