Many people across the country will get new phones, iPads, video games, etc. this holiday season. Christmas isn't all about material things, however, it is about love, family, joy, and happiness.
As an entertainment enthusiast there are some very specific things that I would love this holiday season.
1. Frank Ocean's Album
This one's a no-brainer. Everyone who's anyone is impatiently awaiting the next album from the R&B crooner after his last album, "Channel Orange," took the world by storm. There were rumors that he was going to drop his album earlier in the year, but so far all that we have is a mixtape that he silently released on Spotify. My personal theory is that he was all set to release the album when Adele decided to swoop in and change the game again, sending him back to the drawing board. Whether or not that's true, even Adele herself has stated that she can't wait for the album.
2. For Adele To Drop A Remix
Nowadays, it's a common practice to release a hit song and then re-release it with a rapper or collaborator involved (see: Taylor Swift and Kendrick's "Bad Blood," or Katy Perry and Kanye's "E.T."). While listening to her new album, "25," all that I could imagine was Adele re-releasing the songs with other artists. We're all waiting for the inevitable Sam Smith duet, but maybe some out of the box choices would be nice. A "Hello" trap remix featuring Fetty Wap would be awesome.
3. For "Star Wars" Not To Suck
I'm counting down the hours until the highly anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the first live-action Star Wars film in 10 years, is in theaters. However, in 1999 "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" was released and millions of Star Wars fans raised their expectations only to be completely let down by the film that was actually released. Many fans have great hopes for this new JJ Abrams-directed film, but this could be the younger generation's "Phantom Menace."
4. An Official "Kingdom Hearts" Release Date
This one's for the gamers out there! Square Enix's Disney crossover series has been wallowing in spin-offs since 2005 and, over the past couple of years, the company has announced release date after release date, only to constantly push them back. 2016 is the new date, which sounds exciting enough, but we've been burnt before.
5. A Ticket To "Hamilton"
For those who don't know, "Hamilton" is a new Broadway musical that is taking the world by storm. Written by "In the Heights" scribe Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show retells the story of the Founding Fathers of America (specifically Alexander Hamilton) through the lens of hip-hop/rap. The entire cast, despite playing dead old white men, are actors of every color. The show is an immense hit, but did I mention it's sold out until April? If you want to see it then you'd better figure out what you're doing five months from now.
6. A Tupac Comeback
I mean, honestly, just come back. I know that it's unlikely (because he's enjoying his long retirement in some undisclosed location--not because he's dead), but the rap game needs you back.
7. For Ariana Grande To Get A New Hairstyle
It's self-explanatory.
8.For Hollywood To Stop Acting Like Black People Don't Exist
Did you see the trailer for "Gods of Egypt?" This movie is about Egyptian gods and it only features one actor of color. Let's not forget about "Exodus: Gods and Kings" or "Noah." In a time where people of color are intensifying the fight for representation in all forms, why don't we stop rewriting history?
9. For Donald Trump To Not Be A Thing
Hillary was right, he's not funny anymore. Yes, this is an entertainment list and that's all that this presidential run should have been--pure entertainment--but people are truly behind him. Even after his campaign is over the fact that he's gotten this far has revealed so much about the country.
10. For Flo From Progressive To Get A Movie Role
Flo is more than any other company mascot. Her name is Stephanie Courtney and she's a hilarious actress who trained in the famous Groundlings Theater, where most SNL cast members are recruited. This woman is so good that they gave her that commercial where she plays every member of a family! No one does commercials to be in commercials forever. Someone should reward this woman for obvious talent and put her in something!
