We'd all be the first to admit that growing up sucks. When we were children, our main concern was whether or not we were wearing the next-best shoes or if that guy in our math class liked us. As we get older, we have more responsibilities and have more important things to worry about, like paying our college tuition bill. Despite the fact that getting older sucks and life won't be as fun in years to come when we have our mortgage payment or electric bill to worry about, we still have one thing that will provide more fun than anything we ever experience: college. College is known as "the best four years of your life." While I thought the world was a little over dramatic about this at first, I have learned there is no truer statement.
1. You can show up to class as if you just rolled out of bed. In the workplace, you can't just roll out of bed and just show up to work because you have to look presentable. In college, dressing up will make you stand out more than dressing down because the majoring of the class is in sweatpants.
2. You can eat terribly unhealthy food and get away with it. Eating ice cream for dinner when you're 30 isn't as acceptable as it is in college.
3. You can be drunk on a Saturday morning and get away with it because it's game-day. Having beer for breakfast when you're 30 is often frowned upon.
4. You can screw up. Although your future is at stake when you screw up in college, you're allowed to screw up and make mistakes because this is the time to do it. When you're an adult, screwing up could put your job at stake and for a women with bills, you can't afford to screw up.
5. You can change your mind. It's a bit difficult to change your career when you're an adult with bills to pay. Although you have a college tuition bill you pay when you're in college, you're allowed to change your mind as much as you want because these are the years to do it.
6. You can skip an 8 a.m. if you need it or just want to. You can't miss your 8 a.m. shift at work or you risk getting fired.
7. You will have the TIME OF YOUR LIFE.
I'm not saying that adulthood is terrible, but I've never met an adult who said it's the time of your life. With a list of responsibilities you have to oblige to, it's not a carefree environment like college is. In college, you can eat what you want, wear sweatpants as much as you want, screw up, and change your mind. So live it up college kid; after all, these will be the best four years of your life.
