With famous feminists such as Emma Watson, Taylor Swift, and Malala Yousafzai dominating the media with their powerful messages empowering women all over the world, the fight for gender equality has grown and spread like wildfire throughout recent years. Women are being encouraged to move beyond hateful thoughts and comments meant to degrade other women. They are being encouraged to stand up for each other and become leaders in their society so that others may be inspired to exceed their expectations in life. Despite this strong fight against bullying and judgment, there is still a strong amount of hatred directed at both men and women. While women are encouraged to stick up for each other, there are still groups who attempt to tear down not only women but also men.

Both online and in real life, both men and women continue to gossip and tear down others based on appearance, personality, past experiences, etc. What purpose does this serve? Who benefits from this? Everyone is entitled to his or her own life, and nobody should feel the need to explain his or her decisions to anyone else. Attempting to get involved in business that is not your own only causes unnecessary problems and miscommunication.

Men and women alike should be encouraged to live whatever life makes them the happiest. We should be able to support those around us just as much as we hope that they support us. Spreading positivity will encourage people to succeed in all aspects of life. Whether they are male or female should not matter. All that matters is that we let go of any jealousy and learn to feel proud of the accomplishments of those around us.

Just because women are constantly called out for hating on each other does not mean that it is solely a problem for one gender. Men are also guilty of tearing each other down, even if it is not as frequent of a problem as it is for women. Jealousy is not a trait expressed only by one gender.

How can we hope to get rid of our jealousy and learn to accept and encourage others? People are not perfect, and we should not pretend to be. We all have flaws that make us unique and human. However, if you feel a jealous tendency coming on, there is a way to work on getting rid of it. We should feel motivated by the success of those around us. The accomplishments and successes of others should be inspiration that we can look up to when we need a little more motivation to achieve our dreams.

While the idea of empowered women empowering women is a positive and encouraging one, this idea should be extended to include both men and women. Regardless of gender, everyone should be encouraged and motivated by others to improve their life and make it into what they’ve always wanted it to be. Spreading love and encouragement does nothing but improve our society and the people within it, while judging and degrading others has no benefits for anyone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
