Spring Break may be “the best thing since slice bread,” as the calendar ticks down to March. After a long semester in what feels like eternal raining of the college grind, it is time to just "beach and chill."
Unfortunately, being a scholar means paying the price of broke-college-student-ism. Some students never see sunshine or hang out with friends again after the affliction. Luckily for those who can spare a little time and a lot of clothes to part with, a vacation still might exist.
Selling old mementos and clothing is a sure way to ease some liquid asset into ready pockets.
Lightly worn clothes with a fair share of loving fare quite well on eBay. One relatively new alternative displays incredible devotion to making fashion accessible and the selling/buying game more worthwhile is known as Poshmark.
This amazing website works best as a downloaded app on a phone and is in the style of Instagram. Pictures are uploaded by the seller onto a page where potential buyers can take a gander at cool and diverse styles from a multitude of closets.
Poshmark definitely keeps the intrigue going with not only clothing but also make-up, fragrance, jewelry, floral arrangements, books, posters, etc.
If someone is interested in an item, there are two different options that the person can do, either buying it for the exact price proposed or making a lower offer. Still, there is always a catch or two.
Offers are binding so a buyer cannot back out of a deal. The other thing is that if the seller does not see the offer in time or chooses not to address it, then another buyer can swoop in for the buy.
Once everything is squared away, a prepaid shipping label is sent via email to the seller who has under a week to send the item out. While the fee of $5.95 for buyers to see their item shipped out might seem high, it is a lot cheaper than Asos Marketplace and much less choosy in designer labels than oriented sites, such as Tradesy. Poshmark sellers keep a big chunk of change while the service gets a commission somewhere around a few dollars or so. For items ranging above $15, the split is 80/20.
Although the income range from modest to outrageously posh, no pun intended, hard work eventually pays off when following the cardinal rules: Not selling excessively used items and overestimating prices. Sellers and buyers hone a very particular set of skills through time and love, spent on seeking out deals.
Sharing on site and via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr is a must.
Poshers even attend Posh Parties and Showrooms occurring about three times a day.
If a vacation is all you ever wanted then kick-start the spring cleaning right now! Reap the rewards when the beach is in sight and a margarita comes your way!
