Tailgate season is here. Whether you have been watching football since you were in your mother’s womb or you cannot even explain what a touchdown is, this is the season to express your school spirit and style. What's en vogue may vary depending where you are, but showing school spirit can make it a little easier to find that tailgate outfit. Some schools are more formal, others more casual and some just plain spirited. Here are the top 5 Do’s and Don’ts for this tailgate season.
1. Do NOT wear high heels
You might want to catch the eyes of some frat boys, but it will not be done in heels. They’ll watch you stumble your way to the floor if anything. Tailgates are usually casual events on grass. Wear sneakers, boots or sandals. Save yourself from an embarrassing moment and go with flat shoes.
2. Do NOT be the overly spirited one
We understand you are the football team’s number one fan, but please do not get tacky. No need for body paint or crazy outfits. You will end up standing out from everyone, which is nice sometimes, but also chancing that you look ridiculous. Also, tailgates are hours long and so is the game after, you will not be comfortable the whole day in an overly spirited outfit.
3. Do wear your school colors
There’s no better way to represent your team than to wear their colors. You don’t even have to go all out with crazy spirit attire. Wearing your school colors is spirited enough.
4. Do wear sundresses
Dresses are the perfect clothing piece to stay cool and breezy. All you need is a basic color dress, and then accessorize it based on your style. The weather will start getting chilly, so take advantage and bring out all your summer dresses that are hidden in the back of your closet.
5. Do wear shorts and top
You cannot go wrong with the basics. Shorts are super comfortable to move around in. You also won't have to worry about flashing anyone if a wind flows by. Pick a nice fashionable top to match the shorts, make sure the top stands out because it will definitely make or break the outfit.
Most importantly, rock what you wear with confidence! I hope everyone has a fashionably successful tailgate season.
