7 Reasons The 'Fifty Shades' Series Is 50 Shades Of Wrong

Call me crazy, but I find the idea of these movies disturbing.

I may be one of the few people who are not obsessed with the latest release of "Fifty Shades Freed." I have not read one of the books nor seen the movies.

At first, the series simply didn’t interest me. As the hype increased over the years, I wanted to see what the big deal was. I read up on the series and watched the trailers.

From what I’ve read and seen, I do not ever want to see a single one of these movies. Some may argue that it is just pure entertainment and that’s fine. It’s whatever floats your boat. Personally, I find it all disturbing, but that’s just my opinion.

1. Christian Grey’s character is not attractive

Yes, you read that right. I do not think Mr. Grey is attractive. Sure, his physical appearance is easy on the eyes, but he has poor character. He’s manipulative, obsessive, angry and abusive. I’m sorry, but those qualities are awful.

"Mr. Grey will see you now." Hmmm... no thank you!

2. Physical and emotional abuse is glamorized

From what I’ve read, Christian is emotionally and physically abusive towards Ana. Hollywood takes this and glamorizes it. It turns into something people perceive as “fun” or “hot.” In no way should a woman being put down be glamorized.

3. The series does not show men the proper way to treat women

Men see how women are crazy about the books and movies. For some, they may think they need to act like Christian Grey to get a girl’s attention.

4. Women can become confused on how they should be treated

On the other hand, women see Christian Grey in the movies and think his demeanor towards Ana is “hot.” This leads girls to think being abused is OK.

5. I do not want to see these characters nude

Must I say more? It’s basically porn! The number of times Dakota Johnson is supposed to be shown nude in these movies is insane. Seeing her is just not at the top of my priority list.

6. It could cause disassociation from others

Let’s say you’re watching this movie with your boyfriend. Who do you think he’s thinking about? You or what is on screen? Let’s just ponder that for a while…

7. Parts of the books were left out of the movies

This part is downright disturbing. There were parts of the books that were not included in the movies because they were too explicit and graphic to be filmed. That speaks for itself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
