To Those Who 'Don't Like' Writing, Try It Anyway

If you are feeling angered and don’t feel like your voice is being heard, write.

Writing has always been a huge part of my life. I cannot remember a day that I didn’t write something.

Before I could even read, I would make up little stories and try to write them down the best I could. I would ask my mom to write down what I said because the thought of my words being on paper was so majestic to me.

Being able to share my thoughts and give a voice to those that don’t have one is something that will never cease to amaze me.

I don’t necessarily consider myself a good writer...I’m not sure any writer does, no matter how accomplished they are. It seems self-deprecation is required for a writer to be successful.

Even though that is the case, there are still so many who don’t write because they don’t think they’re good enough. We don’t place enough of an emphasis on English on children when they’re in school, and because of this, they often don’t understand the importance of having writing skills.

We tell people that anyone can read, even that everyone should read, but we say that only the talented should write.

That is not the case.

Everyone should write. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard, and sometimes the best way to do that is in the written form.

If you don’t think that you are good at writing, you should still write...there is no talent requirement.

Not everyone takes up a hobby and automatically has talent in that area. You have to practice. You do not have to be good at something from the beginning. It takes time.

I know it can be frustrating when you feel like your writing isn’t good enough, but it is good enough.

Your voice matters. Your voice deserves to be heard. Writing may be the best way to do it.

It doesn’t matter if you feel like you’re not good at it. Your writing will affect someone, even if that person is just you.

Writing is a form of expression and there is no wrong way to express yourself as long as you are doing it peacefully, and writing is one of the most peaceful forms of expression.

If you are feeling angered and don’t feel like your voice is being heard, write.

If you don’t like writing, just try it out. You may be surprised at how satisfying it truly is.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
