We’ve all had days where we wish they would end so we can continue with our week and move on to the next one. Sometimes it seems to happen everyday or every week; one thing goes wrong and it turns into a domino effect and everything goes wrong.
These bad days are inevitable and they leave you thinking, “why me” or “what did I do wrong?” This thought process continues to build until it becomes “why can’t I have just one good day” and you’re sitting there trying to make ends meet before another catastrophe hits. When this is happening, there is one key point to remember- one bad day, even a few in a row, does not equal a bad life.
There are 7 days in a week, 365 days in a year, and 27,375 days in a life time; some of those are not going to go as planned. It’s important to recognize what is minor and what is major. I’m sure being late to class, the fact he didn’t call you back or stepping in a puddle and getting your socks wet were not a fun way to spend your day, but these are just moments — small little road bumps that don’t equate to anything but a minor inconvenience. These minor inconveniences are short and probably happen to you quite frequently, making it feel like every day something goes wrong and your life is slowly falling apart. That isn't true. For these small problems life throws at you, balance them out and tell yourself that you are responsible for your own happiness and life is what you make it so you might as well choose happiness. So, when you find yourself hating the day because you didn’t get what you wanted, or you hit a rough patch, remember that they do not determine the outcome of your day, but a short 10 minutes; hold your head up and get through it.
Alright, yes, something major will happen and it’ll throw your life for a spin and when this does happen, you can call your mom and tell her that your day was from Hell. The kind of days that make you take a step back and think life is purposely knocking you down earn the title of bad day; go ahead and complain and “treat yo self.” Whether it’s retail therapy or taking a long walk, make sure that whatever you are doing, you are happy.
Of all the days in your life, they aren’t all going to be perfect. So, when you find yourself hating the world because nothing is going right, step back, sort the minor irritations from the major issues and smile. And remember that some of the best days in your life haven’t happened yet. With a positive attitude, you’ll get through a bad day, and go on to create a great life.
