The "Trumpers" are coming! The "Trumpers" are coming! Everyone is entitled to there own political views and opinions. If you like Donald Trump and truly believe in him to be a great President, then go ahead and vote. The same thing applies to Hillary Clinton. If you want Bernie Sanders to have at least a chance of being voted in the big WHITE office, you can write him in. Did you know that? Either way, America, you need to wake up. This is it, these are the people we have to choose from. Like it or not, Donald and Hillary are our options. This being my first election to actually vote for a President, I'm stumbled. I look back in American history to see the options then, and I can honestly say, this election sucks. I don't know where to turn, I don't know who to believe in, and I don't know who to trust as a president. It's kind of like getting involved in a love triangle only to find out the two people who you're trusting is seeing someone else behind your back. But you want to be with one of these two people, even though they have a secret love life other than you. They're both powerful in there own ways. One has friends that will either accept you or hate you (pending your biographic). The other has friends that will pretend to like you, but will talk about you behind your back and possibly leak a juicy secret to make your friend look like shit. But these are your options.
Now I never share who I'm voting for. I think it causes a problem that doesn't need to be risen. But I will have a political conversation with you and possibly a debate, depending on the topic. But if you ask me, "Tim, who are you voting for?" I'll simply reply, "It's situational." It pisses most people off because they bluntly share with me who they're voting for, but I remind them I didn't ask. People just slide who they're voting for in conversation without knowing. Mindlessly sharing information isn't my fault and therefore, I will not feel bad that I don't share. And that's okay. Anyways, I like to have these conversations because one, it keeps you informed on the election. Grant it, they're telling the truth and not trying to hype up the candidate they are voting for. This is when you turn to research after taking mental notes. People remember things that sound a little, well, stupid and grow a curiosity and have to find out the truth. Two, having these debates and conversations will help you understand what you want to look for in a president. Three, they help you make your mind up. Not talking about it will only make the decision making process harder once you're in the booth. Four, you can gain some new friends (if the conversation doesn't end up in a protest battle in the dining hall of your college. Everything already sucks, why make life suckier?) Last but not least, you can learn a lot about your own political beliefs, environmental beliefs, human rights, etc. because these are some of the most talked about issues in candidate debates and promises. If you are voting, you'll end up talking about one of these issues, why not be well versed and ready to attack?
The title for this article, "Wake Me Up When Election Year Ends", was a thought that popped up in my head when Donald Trump "proved" his "hair" was "real". Yeah, because hair is an important factor when choosing a president. So is your issues on deporting illegal aliens from the good ol' U.S of A. Or how about this email scandal on Hillary? Because deleting emails is a big no, no. I do it everyday. I get where America is coming from, they don't want a president that hides anything. Ironic.
I believe Donald is tricky, but so is Hillary, Bernie, President Obama, and other presidential candidate or president. Face it, if you aren't voting for the opposite party, you're going to make up your own false facts on why you shouldn't vote for them. Mostly because you were influenced by the media, or society. We all find the assumed evils of someone we don't like. If you're a Bernie supporter. you probably think Hillary and Donald are evil spawns of Satan. If you're a Hillary supporter, you think the same thing about Donald and Bernie and the cycle continues. I will hand it to you though, Donald has said some pretty fucked up things. So has Hillary. Bernie had some iffy things that he said as well, but nothing to dehumanizing. But these are important characters to look at when voting for a president. It's not just the issues they have. What do you think of them as a person? As a leader?
My advice to you, take everything you've learned, everything you've discussed, every feeling and emotion, and every thought you've had on this election and the candidates and vote for who you think is best for this country. It is very important. Don't vote off of popularity. That is the worst thing you can do voting. Break away from what your friends and family are voting for and build your own consensus on these issues. But take what they say and learn from it by trying to understand why they believe in these issues and do your own research. It's good to ask questions, and if the answer doesn't make sense or still leaves you questioning, take what you've just heard and do some reading of your own.
Personally, I'm done with this whole election. I'll still participate and do my "civil duty" and vote. Until then, I'm going to relax. Wake me up when election year is over.
