We have all been there...we buy an outfit we thought was cool and in style one minute just to realize a week later that we look completely ridiculous. However with the way fashion trends today are popping in and out of more modern 80s and 90s styles... I still find myself having a rather strong opinion on what the things I love versus things I hate to see resurface. While I may not enjoy what is being mass produced, there are pros and cons to every style. Nonetheless, here are a few current trends that I wish would go back to their respective decade...
High-Wasted Shorts.
Pros - They can make any waist appear smaller than it actually is and can bring more attention to her legs.
Cons - I do not care to see your ass cheeks or your camel toe...sorry, honey. Now go cover up!
Choker Necklaces.
Pros - While it does add a creative accessory to your look, I still cannot help but think that is brings up a side of negative attention along with it. When I see someone wearing a choker necklace, I instantly of something sassy...
Cons - Something sassy: "Are you a dog? Nice collar; really brings out your eyes." The harsh reality is that the whole thing just kind of throws off the vibe in an entire room because in this modern age, because it's not everyday you encounter someone that thinks they are a vampire princess, I'm sorry...
Open Knit/Crochet Tops.
Pros - In this summer heat you need something that fits lose and is breathable.
Cons - You remind me of a big, walking doyley and for that I will never apologize... This top is completely unrealistic and simply distasteful. You cannot wear this top without wearing something underneath it and that makes this outfit difficult and getting dressed in the morning should not be hard... It should be fun!
Side Knotted Tee.
Pros - It reminds me of the crop top, midriff feel, so ultimately it has potential to be cute.
Cons - Because I strongly agree and am all about the midriff, my final comments are to just commit to a crop top and be done with it. You do not need to take an everyday t-shirt and scrunch it to the side. Stop being something you aren't.
The Jean Jacket.
Sadly, I do not have any pros for this because I have only ever seen this pulled off nicely on women that are either 15 or 55...therefore, my direct thoughts are No. They are bulky and take away from your figure. If you are truly desperate to cover your arms and add some flair, try a cardigan or a blazer.
Bucket Hats.
Pros - Hides your head from a bad hair day...
Cons - You look like a wanna be rapper and hoodlum.
If you disagree with me, email me; let's talk. I would love to pick your brain, but my 21 years as a girl along with experience in the fashion retail world have taught me a thing or two. And to prove that I am not some evil, fashion trend Nazi, here are a few things that I love and hope to see stick around: fun socks, ultra skinny jeans, gladiator
sandals, jean vests, dressy shorts, and wedges.
