There's more to the world then what you see right now

To A Younger Me: A Letter Every Teen Can Learn From

Don’t hurry to grow up. I promise you, there is so much time to do “adult” things in the future. But right now, I would advise you to try to live as much as you can. The second the expectations of “modern teenagers” hit you, be careful to not let it dull the fire that’s ravaging inside of you.

Study hard for you, not for anyone else. It’s your life. Even if you don’t want to do something academic, it’s nice to make your options to choose easier. Though you should study hard, remember to take time to yourself. High school emphasizes the importance of studying hard, but not the importance of your mental health. Remember that your mental health is equally as important as your physical health. Just because you can’t see the damage being done, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

When you are under the age of around 20, your mind is easily manipulated by whatever the world reveals to you. It can be good and inspiring, or it can downright destructive if you let it. Don’t let the publication of celebrities make you think you are any less handsome or beautiful than they are. And never think you are better than another. There is always something you can learn from someone else.

Try not to crumble when you fail. Failure is a part of life. Effort and the aftermath is far more important the event of a success or failure. Effort, meaning that you have tried your hardest. And the aftermath is what happens next. Let go and move on or try again? Failure is an opportunity in disguise, so take it as it comes, and don’t be too hard on yourself.

High school is a funny time in life. It’s the time you start to learn about hormones, and you see some major changes in your body. Crushes will happen; maybe they already have! Of course it would be nice to have a lover when you’re young, but an advice to you is to love yourself before you allow yourself to love anyone else. You are the only person you can guarantee to have around in the future.

Remember to respect and love your parents. Yes, you’re growing up, but so are they. You don’t stop growing up just because you’ve gotten a little older. They’re watching you grow up a little too fast, so remember to keep in mind, that you will always be their child. But don’t be afraid to speak up if you feel like how you are treated is unfair; it’s important to have your own voice.

Time is so precious. Use it carefully. Whether it be something that is productive or taking time off to care for yourself. Remember to do things that make you happy. Whether it be playing music, doing art, playing video games, sports, or anything at all. Remember to take care of yourself, because you are capable of so much. It’s important to strive towards a goal, but it’s also important to make sure that you’re the best you that you can be.

The last advice, is to never let anyone make you feel like you are less of a person. You are imperfectly a perfect you. Who cares if people laugh at you, they’re not important! They don’t want to be around you? Their loss! You don’t need validity from anyone to prove that you are worth it.

You’re going to do something big some day. Don’t be afraid if you don’t know what you want your future to look like. Barely any of us know. But whatever you do in life, whoever you are, just be the best you that you can be.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
