Happy first day, children.

17 Things I WON'T Miss About High School

To some people, your 4 years of high school are the best 4 years of your life. However, for most people, high school is just the beginning of their life, and definitely not the best 4 years. While there are many things I will miss about high school, such as some teachers, show choir, my friends and Freda, the best janitor in the history of janitors, there are many things I will not miss.

1. The school lunches

While I'll miss 'Chicken Finger Wednesday' and 'cheese stick day,' I definitely won't miss the wheat bread and spaghetti day.

2. The early mornings

Math at 9:00 o'clock in the morning is much better than anything at 7:30.

3. The freshman

This speaks for itself.

4. The one couple taking up the whole hallway because they HAVE to hold hands

When you have 120 seconds to get to class and a couple is taking up both sides of the hallways because they have to hold hands, I make no apologies for knocking them over.

5. The teacher that won't let you do work for another class, even though you have nothing to do for their class

6. The wifi

Because who loves wifi that has Snapchat blocked?

7. Class meetings

Even though we know we all won't agree on the same thing, certain people will fight the ear death until they get their way.

8. Waiting in line for the microwave

Don't be that girl that cooks something for 10 minutes.

9. The vending machines only having healthy foods and drinks.

Thanks, Michelle Obama.

10. The vending machines being locked until 8:30 and then again at 11.

Running late and forget breakfast? Sorry, no whole grain pop tarts for you.

11. The vending machines taking your money.

Hope you brought more than $1.

12. Spending 4 years trying to find a quiet place to go during a break, then people finding your quiet place.

You finally find your quiet place away from everyone, then 1 person finds it and it's no longer a quiet place. It's a very sad day.

13. School Bathrooms

Always go to the tower. no matter what you do.

14. The parking

Don't be late or you will lose your unofficial parking spot.

15. Weather Drills

Butt cracks. Enough said.

16. The drama

Because there is nothing worse than a high school girl. Maybe a middle school girl, but that's it.

17. The gum infested desks

Never, ever, ever cross your legs. Ever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
