When You Give A Girl A Grandma

Dear Grandma,

May I just say that you have been an inspiration to me since I was little. I have always looked up to you, being the classy woman that you are. There are many things I admire about you, but I want to highlight the main things that make you so special to me.

Someday I hope to be able to cook and bake as well as you. One of the most exciting things about visiting you is filling my big appetite. I could eat thousands of your rolls, as I am sure I have over the years, if you would let me. Thank you for taking the time to teach my mom and I your magic recipe. It is something that will always be dear to me since it will bring me back to memories of my childhood at your house.

One of my best memories at your house is when you would tell me stories before bed. You always came up with the most creative words to get me to sleep. I treasured our sleepovers as a child. With no doubt, I would have chosen to stay at your house over any of my best friends!

I appreciate your pure happiness at family get-togethers. You always take these (sometimes stressful) holidays with such a positive attitude. Every holiday I look forward to seeing you and your beautiful smile! You make the room so much brighter with your love for everyone that is present.

Thank you for attending all of my dance recitals over the years. I know these days were long and very, very loud. You were always a trooper and seemed so grateful to be there to watch me. I always wanted to perform good for you! It was always so fun to know that grandma was in the audience to watch me.

I idolize your relationship with God. You have always been such a religious woman, and I look up to you for this. I can prove it by the fact that we all used to call your vehicle your "church car." This is one of the biggest reasons I chose you to be my sponsor for confirmation! I love going to your church and listening to you sing in the choir. I would always feel so special when you would introduce me to your friends. Thank you for leading me in faith all of my life.

It is always an honor to help you with your technological difficulties. Your questions about technology are always so cute!I love helping you with problems on your iPad, printer, phone or any other device you own. You always make me feel so smart for being able to fix things (even if it isn't that hard.)

I am thankful that you are always available for advice. You and my mother are the two people in this world that can make me feel better no matter what the situation is. Both of you always know exactly what to say. Thank you for encouraging me to have a good week at school and to thank God for all he has given me.

Something I have always wished for was to live closer to you. I would love to only have a 10-minute drive to your house. I love visiting you and grandpa and hearing the stories you have along with telling you about what is going on in my life. I have always left happier after a visit at your house.

I will always cherish the memories we have made together, like the time our lunch pail blew away when we were going to visit grandpa in the combine. I look forward to making more with you and enjoying the time we have together. You hold a dear place in my heart and you always will. Thank you for being you. I love you!

Love,

Your Granddaughter

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
