Dear Future Self

A Letter for Tomorrow

Dear Future Self,

Soon, you will be entering the real world. Currently, you're terrified. Yet, you are absolutely thrilled. This inability to accurately describe how you feel about growing up is the most wonderful experience. It is within these bittersweet moments, we call most beautiful. What lies ahead for you is far greater than all you can imagine.

My dear, tomorrow's horizon is near. The day may bring unbelievable difficulty. It may bring you to your knees in pain and mourning. The day may bring you confusion and leave you distraught. I promise you, there will be days such as this. But my dear, I hope you do not let the "it may's" cripple you, and I hope you confidently march on. "It may" many things, yet we must go live the day. We cannot let fear rule our lives, only optimism and love.

Tomorrow's horizon is near. The day may bring beauty beyond all comparison. Tomorrow holds opportunity, and hope and promise to cling to. It holds memories yet to be made and life yet to be lived. I hope you never take the beautiful days and moments for granted. The possibilities that lie ahead for you are wonderful, and I hope you fall in love with those mysteries. I hope you fall in love with living.

I hope you are happy with who you have become. I won't write in here my future plans, because I do not wish to be disappointed. What I will write in here is that no matter where you are when you read this letter, I hope you find comfort in the fact that you are where you are for a reason. I know while writing this, you are currently terrified to not have a life you fall in love with. You are scared to never be successful, yet success, my dear, is built within you. Your life will turn out how it is meant to, nothing goes according to plan. Fire is in your soul, and love is in your heart, and that is the mark of a wonderful being.

I hope the eyes that are reading this have seen love, and I hope the heart that feels this remains beautiful.

Future self, you will become a world-changer, whether it be for the entire one, or simply someone's. May every action be pursued out of pure love, and every moment considered precious. You are strong, and I expect you to continue to be. I hope you cling to the Lord in all circumstances, trusting in Him.

Future self, I want to live a beautiful life. I hope when you read this some day, this remains true. I hope the horizons of your tomorrows hold hope within them.

My dear, may your love for Christ be evident in all you do. With that, you have the power to conquer, to love, and to inspire.

I hope your life is something worth living, and that all days are beautiful.

Love,

My Current Self

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
