Well folks it's getting close to that time of year again; the leaves are changing, sweaters weather has begun, and everyone is looking for someone to snuggle up to for the cold season to come.
Cuffing season is defined by MTV as, "During the fall and winter months people who would nrmally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves, along with the rest of the world, desiring to be 'cuffed' or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed."
For those of you who don't understand this concept of cuffing season, as in why it is a thing, rest assured it is very much a real thing. As animalistic creatures we naturally crave affection from one another, especially in the cold months. We crave the warmth and attention when we all stay in more not it's too cold to make the journey to the bar. Most people don't partake in the act of cuffing during this time of year. Save it till the last second, first week of december frenzy. Potentially problematic at times, but hey, you have fun longer. Let it all dwindle down to the last few then grab whoever is left, watching the panic on everyone's face a the end of November trying to find someone to bring home for the holidays. And if you're like me, you don't cuff. You simply watch everyone pair up and hope to god some single people still go out. Unphased by the change of weather, we keep to our schedule all year long, no need to adapt to someone else's schedule.
It isn't for everyone, some people prefer the cold months alone, use it as a time to recoup from the busy hot months. Relax for while, get know yourself again. A lot can happen in a year, this is a time for reflection.
If you're happy and in love though during this infectious season, revel in it. Celebrate your time with one another, and just enjoy it. Because come April and everything becomes new, so could your relationship status. May the odds be ever in your favor.
