As this year draws to an end, Halloween swiftly approaches. The lingerie, the mini-skirts, and the bras will suddenly be acceptable to wear Halloween night. It has become unpopular to wear a costume that does not expose cleavage or other parts of the body. You are an outlier if your costume was not bought at a lingerie store. In a lingerie store, everything bought goes under your clothing or reserved for an evening in your home.
One would assume that when you purchase a costume from there, it would be one worn under your clothing or reserved for an evening in your home. The change in costume choice is to be understood, but I do wonder when one wears that costume and in route to a gathering and walks past children, do you cringe a little? If you run into the pastor, your professor, or your grandmother, do you blush?
Halloween was once enjoyed by people who could, for one night, pretend to be someone they could be in a different world. Shockingly, if that statement still held true, our future college graduates desire to be prostitutes and strippers, far from the respectable graduates they desire to be. Is this acceptable?
I spoke with a college student that said after going out on Halloween and running into the scantily dressed people, her boyfriend expects it. Is the expectation of Halloween sex motivated by the Victoria Secret pages come to life? Do you embody the role you dressed up fully? Does the lingerie costumes mean you are part of the Halloween Sexers?
Amazingly, one wonders, who isn’t having sex on Halloween? Is Halloween sex the norm?
Be aware that even on Halloween, NO means NO. Just because it is there in front of you does not mean it is acceptable to take. Don’t become a Halloween rapist. Halloween is by far one of the most celebrated holidays because of its appeal to be someone else, even if you don’t agree with someone’s costume choice. Halloween sex is only acceptable when both parties agree.
Happy Halloween!
