The Very First Thing My Man Gave Me Cost Less Than A Dollar

SOMETHING, eventually, will be given to you that you will look back on no matter how long you’ve had it and thing.... wow, what a game changer.

Ladies, we all have high expectations for our significant others.

Whether you’re more of a materialistic person or more of a sentimental person, a lot of us crave something that shows us that our loved ones really cares about us (because no one should be a side piece). Flowers on Valentine’s Day, chocolates when they know we are cramping, heart emojis in our text messages, there’s always something we want.

BUT! One day your man will give you something that you will want to tell everyone about. This item will be different for everyone. Maybe it really is that beautiful bouquet of flowers. Maybe it really is chocolates when you’re cramping.

SOMETHING, eventually, will be given to you that you will look back on no matter how long you’ve had it and thing.... wow, what a game changer.

My article (other than my engagement and wedding ring) but most definitely the key to his house.

I have been in so many failed relationships. Relationships that literally made me feel like I was nothing. Relationships that I look back on now and remind me about how I just let myself go.

When you get into a new relationship, you’re just so excited and hopeful that this person will be different. Your butterflies fly in your stomach. You blush all the time. You try to hold in your fart because you don’t know what that other person would think if you just ripped one right in the middle of a movie (this really happened to me- don't worry, it passed). You literally do everything in your power not to do anything embarrassing.

Then it starts to get serious. You stay at their house more often. You meet their family and they meet yours (he met my dog and I, eventually, got to meet his precious daughter that I love with all my heart). I eventually farted in front of him because at this point, why not. It’s bad for your health to hold that in for so long. Oh my gosh. IT GETS SERIOUS! (Buckle up because this is what I really want to tell y’all about.)

My realization that our relationship was for real now (by the way this was before I met his daughter) was a couple months into the relationship.

He texted me one day saying, “I got a present for you!” Okay, ya creep. Me being the modest person I am said, “Oh no, I hope you didn't spend a lot of money on it. You really didn’t have to!” Turns out it was less than a dollar.

I came over to his house and looked at him like, “Where is it” out of curiosity of course. HE LOST IT! I was so sad. Being modest as possible was like “It’s okay!”

He found another one by the way.

Next day I come over and he said, “close your eyes and open your hands.” Okay, bossy.... but I did it anyway.

It was the key to his house.

In that very second, I just wanted to cry. I knew that this man was serious. Serious about us. Serious about our relationship and I have never felt that way before. My heart melted and the rest of my emotions went crazy! I wanted to cry but I was so happy that I couldn’t cry. I already knew that I loved this man but now I realized that I don’t just love him, I am IN love with him.

For a man to open his home and his heart to you is just beautiful.

What I really hope people are taking from this story is that everyone can give you flowers and chocolates.... but, have you found a person that can slip you their heart? And to think, for me, it cost less than a dollar.

P.S. We got married November 4, 2017.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
