6 Confessions Of A Single Girl

I'm guilty as charged.

Being single can be great, but after a while, it gets old. Seeing all of these happy couples around me wherever I go can really put a damper on my mood when I don't even have someone to text. I've only ever really had one real relationship, and that only lasted 2.5 months. So, I know good and well what it's like to be single and alone. Here's a list of things I do without realizing it just because I'm single.

1. I'm constantly on the lookout for someone to date.

Isn't that so embarrassing? Whether I'm on my way to the grocery store, walking on campus, pumping gas, out to dinner, at the club, or anywhere else, I'm constantly checking the people out around me to see if I spot any potential lovers. It's not that I'm completely desperate, but more of the fact that I'm just eager to find that one person.

2. I give everyone a chance with me that wants it.

I really don't hold back, unless I'm just utterly repulsed by said person. If someone takes any interest in me, I give it a chance. (Obviously, this doesn't actually work out for me).

3. I get really down when something doesn't work out.

Putting my cards all out on the table and being so vulnerable to someone really bites me in the a** whenever it doesn't work out. Because I've had many "flings" where I would meet someone and really like them, get the vibe that they like me too, and then all of a sudden they just stop talking to me and unfollow my Instagram. There is no explanation for this, so it's really unsettling and hard to just up and move on from.

4. When I'm at the club, I'm literally just waiting there for someone to approach me.

And I know that admitting that is basically the same as spelling out "desperate." But hey, what can I say? I'm just lonely and eager.

5. I swipe on Bumble like there's no tomorrow.

One match, two match, any match - I'll take it.

6. I'm guilty of Snapchatting all of the cute guys on my friends list... at once.

Yeah, those mass texts that people send to everyone? I'm guilty as charged.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
