“Life isn’t easy.” That’s what everyone tells you when something doesn’t go your way. People face obstacles in their life every day, and that is just the way it is. I’m currently in Pharmacy school and to be honest, it sucks a lot sometimes. The workload is heavy, and my time management skills are slightly lacking. Also, being in Greek Life, the administration expects you to be able to balance school as well as having extraordinary extracurricular activities. Most schools nowadays require you to become a superhuman. Forget eating and sleeping, because no one has the time for that. Don’t forget you are supposed to make friends and have a social life too on top of everything.
I have had awful and depressing times where I have absolutely despised what life has thrown at me. Life is hard, but through my experiences; I have learned to appreciate the smaller things in life that can make me smile. Being in a sorority has allowed me to connect with some amazing people who have been there for me in times of stress. I always have someone to stress eat with in the middle of the night or to pull ridiculous all-nighters with me in order to get through the exam material. Having my parents support me through everything has made the journey a tad bit easier. I have fallen in love while being at school and that in itself has been a crazy but wonderful rollercoaster. I’ve learned to really appreciate the new relationships I have made and be absolutely grateful to the old ones as well.
Challenges are difficult, but if I weren’t being challenged, I wouldn’t learn anything new. I’ve come to realize that mistakes are okay and really important. Screwing up helps you figure out what not to do the next time and gives you perspective. Having high standards is good at times but harmful at other times. Reach for the stars, but don’t beat yourself up too much if something goes slightly wrong. I’ve learned that comparing yourself to others won’t do you any good and that the focus should always be on yourself.
Overall, no matter the difficult obstacles that have entered my life, I have always survived. One of the most important lessons I have learned is that I will always be okay through all the pain, sweat, blood, and tears. So the goal is to continue pushing through and just have faith that in the end, even though life isn’t easy, I will work hard and strive to succeed. “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
