College students everywhere struggle every day with schoolwork, personal lives and everything else they have going on. With everything that they have going on, it is easy to forget to enjoy life when the stress takes over. So, here are five things to remember during all of the times with life seems like it is too much.
1. You are so loved.
Remember you have a support system. It may be your parents, your friends, your sorority or you fraternity -- it will always be there. There will always be someone who is thinking about you or sending you reminders of how much you mean to them. You are loved by our Lord, and there is no greater love than his. Even in your darkest moment, you are loved, and there is always someone to turn to.
2. You are enough.
I cannot stress this one enough. In college you are constantly being pushed to apply for things and branch out and try this and try that, these make it hard not to compare yourself to other people all the time. So, it is so incredibly important to remember that you are enough, your worth is not based on how many clubs, honor societies, committees and achievements you have on your resume. You are enough by being just you.
3. It is what it is -- everything will always work out in the end.
You are going to have a bad day, a bad week, maybe even a bad month but the good always outweighs the bad. We get so caught up in the stresses of our lives that we don’t realize our life is flashing by, in the end, everything works out and it isn’t worth the stress of freaking out about it. Next time you something is and end-all-be-all of a situation, try to take a step back and de-stress. The sun will always rise, no matter how your day was.
4. Be genuine.
Be you, be real, be reliable. Despite my constant trying, I can’t be everywhere at once, it’s physically impossible. I brought unneeded stress in my life by constantly worrying if I was giving enough time to this person and that person. I’m going to pass a little tip onto you that I have learned. If you are genuine and real to the people that you love and the people that love you, and you make sure that they know how much you care for them, there is no need to stress about being everywhere at once. Take a deep breath and be real with the people around you.
5. There is a higher plan, and his plan is far greater than anything we have planned for our day.
It’s okay to transfer schools. It’s okay to change your major -- it’s even okay to change it more than once a semester. It’s okay to not have a boyfriend or a girlfriend at this very moment of your life. It's okay to not have your life completely together all the time. It’s okay to have a messy room for a week and not do laundry because studying got in the way. In the end it will always be okay, there is a plan for each and every one of us.
Find comfort in each of these.
