Music has a way of bringing people together and speaking the feelings we don't know how to put into words.

The transitions from childhood to adulthood introduce us not only to self-discoveries, but also to hardships.

If you are going through changes or a transition in your life, music is a great place to turn to for solace. So here's a list of songs about growing up that will speak to you.

1. 'For The First Time' by Best Coast

"And I guess this is what they mean
When they say
People can change
'Cause I finally feel free
I feel like myself again."

2. 'It's Not The Same Anymore' by Rex Orange County

"I'll keep the pictures saved in a safe place
Wow, I look so weird here
My face has changed now
It's a big shame."

3. 'It Might Be Time' by Tame Impala

'It might be time to face it

You ain't as cool as you used to be, no

You won't recover

You ain't as young as you used to be."

4. 'Growing Pains' by Alessia Cara

"I cry more than I want to admit

But I can't lie to myself, to anyone

'Cause phoning it in isn't any fun

Can't run back to my youth the way I want to."

5. 'Youth' by Shawn Mendes and Khalid

"You can't take my youth away

This soul of mine will never break

As long as I wake up today

You can't take my youth away."

6. 'Castle On The Hill' by Ed Sheeran

"And I'm on my way, I still remember

These old country lanes

When we did not know the answers."

7. '7 Years' by Lukas Graham

"It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger

Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker."

8. 'Kids' by MGMT

"Memories fade
Like looking through a fogged mirror
Decisions too
Decisions are made."

9. 'West Coast' by FIDLAR

"And all my friends, they just stay the same
I'm growing up but nothing's changing."

10. 'Dammit' by Blink-182

"But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own, well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up."

11. 'Changes' by David Bowie

"Pretty soon now you're gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time."

12. 'Opposite of Adults' by Chiddy Bang

"Remember you was a kid
Reminisce days of the innocence."

13. 'Landslide' by Fleetwood Mac

"Well, I've been 'fraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too."

14. 'The Middle' by Jimmy Eat World

"You know you're doing better on your own so don't buy in
Live right now
Just be yourself
It doesn't matter if that's good enough for someone else."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
