Ski season is upon us! With opening weekends beginning or quickly approaching, skiers and snowboarders alike are filled with excitement for the season ahead. In Colorado, theres a lot to choose from. Here’s 10 of the best resorts that can help bring the approaching season excitement higher and guide people to the right mountains for their perfect powder days.
1. Keystone
For all those, family and experts alike, Key is the place to be. With an amazing front and back side, everybody enjoys their time here. Not only could you have an awesome day skiing there, you have the ability to enjoy some night skiing as well! With an opening weekend quickly approaching, Keystone is ready to kick off a killer year.
2. Vail
Everybody loves Vail. If you haven’t been yet, it is certainly a must visit. Vail is home to some of the best downhill skiing in the Colorado area. It would take days, if not months to ski the entire mountain. Lots to explore, lots of powder, Vail should definitely be on the shredder’s bucket-list.
3. Telluride
One of the most gorgeous places you may ever ski is Telluride Colorado. With its quaint town below, the enormous ski resort sits above, calling all its riders to take some turns. It's a great place for families and friends to enjoy a wide array of terrain. While it is farther from the Denver area, Telluride is an awesome trip to make if you want to experience all the beauty that Colorado ski resorts can offer.
4. Aspen
With its high-end boutiques and even higher altitude, Aspen is an awesome destination for people to visit. You have the ability to choose from Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass or Buttermilk, all available by free bus service. Aspen annually hosts the X-Games that is always an awesome event to attend in the wintertime.
5. Beaver Creek
Like Aspen, Beaver Creek is very family oriented. It has a great town with a lot of designer boutiques and delicious après ski food. Most people who like to ski the Beave enjoy their resort treatment with groomed trails and long lunch breaks in the luxurious lodges. If you’re one to enjoy steep, radical terrain, the birds of prey trail has people from all over the world travel to try out the World Cup downhill ski course.
6. Breckenridge
Breckenridge has been named a perfect mountain town. With its aesthetically appealing village to the gorgeous mountain that sits behind it, people walk into Breck feeling its pulse. Alive with nightlife and exciting activities, Breck is an awesome destination for a vacation or weekend getaway. From wild terrain parks and a gnarly backside to groomers, Breck won’t disappoint any type of skier or boarder!
7. Crested Butte
Every one that goes here will tell you that the air is just as fresh as the snow. With the majority of the runs being blues, Crested Butte offers a variety of intermediate terrain. Best part of this place is that there are minimal crowds, which attracts a lot of college students. Along with the fact that the lift tickets are usually between $60.00-$110.00. 8. Copper Mountain
Many know Copper for its evenly divided terrain. With a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails, the mountain is naturally divided based on level. It is home to Woodward, an indoor freestyle training facility that is open to the public! 75 miles from Denver, make the trip, everyone needs a snow day!
9. Steamboat
Right out side Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Ski Resort sits mightily over the Yampa Valley. With a various number of different peaks, Steamboat offers a wide array of trails, that on a powder day, can be some of the best skiing of a lifetime.
10. Arapahoe Basin
Everyone loves to dress up for Beach Day at A-Bay. Definitely a favorite mountain for the CU students as it is not too far from Boulder and is an awesome destination to have some fun with friends. Cook up some hot dogs and burgers after skiing in the tailgate parking lot too! Everyday is a good day at A-bay!
