The Best Of CollegeFest At Fenway Park

CollegeFest, an annual festival targeting college students all around the Boston area comes to Fenway Park each year. This year was their 31st anniversary and I had the amazing opportunity to report at the fest with my best friend. Being there, we saw college students from numerous schools such as Wentworth, Emmanuel College, Bentley University, Suffolk University, Emerson College, and even met a student from Germany. They definitely held their word about being one of the most visited events by college students.

The great part about this event for college students, in particular, is that you don't have to put your hand in your wallet once. Once you get your student ID checked, you're given a bag provided by the festival and then you are off exploring the BEAUTIFUL Fenway Park for free while getting free stuff handed to you. To me, not much more sounds better.

The festival hosts numerous vendors that catch the eye of college students, promoting healthy lifestyle products such as Trimino, Celsius, CYC, Central Rock Gym, etc. These were a big hit as many new incoming college students are trying to avoid the dreaded "Freshmen 15". We got free drinks, free passes to cycling classes, discounted gym memberships to fun gyms that have not just gym equipment but rock climbing, yoga and pilates. There were also raffles going on for the chance to win free tickets to Boston sporting events.

In addition, we were handed free ice cream, all different types of decorative stickers, cups, high-quality water bottles from Timberland, etc. Another great part of this event, besides learning so much about products you never knew about before, is that you can also learn about great opportunities with the military, National Guard, and ROTC programs. Men and women straight from each program are there to inform you about how to get involved and answer all of the questions you may have.

All students also had the FREE opportunity to step into the baseball field and get their picture taken with friends behind the Red Sox World Series Trophies with the whole park being their background. The process was also broadcasted over the big screen in the park, how cool?!

This event was one to remember and definitely something every college student should attend. The chance for free stuff everywhere, exploring Fenway Park for free, and a once in a lifetime picture with the World Series trophies to remember it all by, doesn't come around often. Therefore, I encourage all students nearby to check out CollegeFest next year because I know I will!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
