Coffee is one of my true loves, dripped or pressed, cold or hot, milk or espresso, I love it all. I love the way it makes me feel, I love the way it tastes, I love the way it smells. I love the chats that I have with friends when we go and get a cup –– there's just nothing like a cup of coffee between friends to make you really open up about your life. I also love the peace and contentment I feel when I have a cup of coffee by myself. And as I sit now with my mocha latte outside of our local coffee shop, Cups, I think what better way to show my love than to tell about the coffee shops that have made it on my list of places to go! So, sit back, grab a cup of joe and get your travel to-do list because here are ten coffee shops that you (and I) will most definitely want to visit one day.
1. Truth Coffee, South Africa
The Joy of Extraordinary Truth –– this steam punk inspired coffee shop is a must on any coffee enthusiasts travel list, with its own barista school and local choice of beans, they are really extraordinary!
2. Coffee Academics, Hong Kong
If I ever get to Hong Kong, I know I will wan to stop at Coffee Academics. With its own special educational classes, baristas that go through this school are renowned world wide!
3. Barista Parlor, Nashville, TN.
One of the few on my list that I might actually make it to one day, the Barista Parlor has two locations –– the original is an old auto garage –– and is committed to using local produce and brewing their coffee with care. It's definitely a stop to remember for any future road trips.
4. Café Central, Vienna, Austria
"Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialties, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience." This is one of my biggest hopefuls on this list as visiting Austria is something I have been wanting to do for a while now, finding a famous coffee shop opened in 1876 that was frequented by famous artists and writers is like extra icing on the cake.
5. Johan & Nyström, Stockholm, Sweden
Any coffee shop that has to have a dictionary to tell you about all the different forms it produces is something I have to see in person. If you go on their website they even have a video showing you the process they go through to select their beans, it really is amazing!
6. Workshop Coffee, London
Workshop Coffee now has several locations, but it started as a dream to bring the coffeehouse culture to London. With the option for them to weekly or monthly send their coffee to your doorstep, you don't even have to go to one of their locations to try their brew, but what an experience it would be! Imagine taking a masterclass, that sounds fantastic!
7. Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Portland, OR
Ever had a cup of coffee made from beans that have been roasting nearly all day? Yeah, neither have I, but oh boy do I want to! "Drinking coffee is a pleasure. Drinking coffee is fun, and it feels good, and every once in awhile I remember that we're actually cultivating pleasure. Why do you put anything in your mouth? Because it's delicious." –– Jim Kelso, Quality Assurance, Stumptown Coffee Roasters.I want to test that deliciousness for myself one day, hopefully, a girl can dream!
9. Barnie's CoffeeKitchen, Orlando, Fl.
The second coffee shop on my list that is a definite possibility is Barnie's CoffeeKitchen. One of the best things about college is meeting people from outside of your state and being able to go and see new places and inviting them to see new places too. As I now have a friend from Orlando, hopefully going to Barnie's is not too far fetched a dream, I already know what I'm going to order!
10. Cielito Querido Café, Mexico City
I may not know Spanish, but I do know coffee, and after looking up a few of their menu items, they were a definite on my list of places to visit. Who knows, maybe one day I will get to visit this coffee shop, and all of the others I have listed, like I said before, a coffee addicted girl can dream.
