What Classes You Should Take At UW Madison

That time of the year is coming around where you need to decide what classes to take for the next up-coming semester.

Choosing what classes to take can be difficult, especially with the worry that your class may fill up before you are able to sign up for it. Which means, you need backups for your backups. Picking classes can be difficult, especially when you do not know your major and you are just taking classes for the heck of it in order to graduate. The classes I am listing below, I recommend taking for a relatively easy and interesting time.

1. Gender Women Studies 103

Giphy

I would recommend taking this class because it focuses on our health and body, especially what happens to females during mensuration and pregnancy. Learning this information, you can learn about what will happen to your body in the future. Super interesting.

2. Ed Psych 321

Giphy

We have all been adolescents, but have you ever really thought about reasons why you did what you did, and how to adapt to adolescents in the future when you become a parent. In this class, you learn how adolescents think, act, types of parenting styles, and everything about adolescent life. It was an interesting and easy class for being an intermediate level.

3. Anthropology 104

Giphy

This anthropology class you get to emerge into different cultures and learn about the United State's past and how it may be reoccurring in history today. A couple of projects and consist of fieldwork journals--but they are not bad at all, they were super interesting at times. -- check it out.

4. HDFS 517- Couple Relationships

Giphy

In this class, you analyze different relationships and learn how to have successful ones. You learn about conflicts and how to settle them, and how to be a good communicator. You apply what you learn in real life.

5. Counseling Psychology 225

Giphy

In this class, you learn how to interact with people, especially for those who differ from you. In this class you develop a huge self-awareness and learn so much about yourself and the world around you.

6. HDFS 363

Giphy

This is similar to ed psych 321, but this one discusses the elderly and what to expect during this time-- plus it is completely online--super convenient if you ask me.

7.Environmental Studies 113

Giphy

This class was fairly easy and consisted of weekly short papers and readings. As long as you go to class and pay attention in lecture, everything will come to you for the 2 exams.

8. Nutri Sci 132

Giphy

Want to learn about nutrition and how what you eat actually affects your body. You learn about vitamins and their function in the body. You learn a lot about your overall health and how food affects this. The exams are fair game-- so make sure you go to lectures.

9.  Horticulture 120

Giphy

Easy volunteering hours and labs consist of going to gardens and being immersed in nature. Exams are difficult but as long as you study you will be fine.

10.  Clap for Credit

Giphy

Easiest class at UW Madison... hands down. It is a simple 1 credit class, where you go once a week to literally clap at a performance or a recorded musical.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
