On November 2nd, 2016, the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians took on Game 7 of the World Championship series shortly after the Cubs had regained tying the series 3-3 days prior to the end of the series! They have been trailed by the Indians 3-1 in the postseason and the Cubs made an impressive comeback both at Wrigley Field and Progressive Field. Game 7 had a lot of excitement as Fowler homered in the beginning of the game up to the 8th inning where things got nerve breaking. Not only were they close to getting a hold of the title, but the Indians very own Davis had pushed his team into tying the game 6-6. The game had so many fans on both sides with excitement but also feeling that they may win or lose. Not only did they tie but the anticipation that was above Chicago earlier that day had arrived to Cleveland, Ohio and they stopped the game due to the rain. This gave both teams a break to get themselves together and strategize on how they will take over the other team. After playing 2 more innings, the Cubs last play was one of the most heart warming plays I've ever seen and the smiles on their faces basically led them to victory!
So what did this mean to the city of Chicago and to the Cubs fans? Why not throw a old fashion parade and rally where everyone can come together and celebrate. That's what they did! Over 5 million spectators arrived to Grant Park early on November 4th at 6am to get front row seats and as the day went on, many more fans joined in. My day started by getting up and being at the Metra Train by 5:51 a.m. and be downtown at 7 a.m. Myself and a couple of friends went to get some Starbucks and proceeded to Grant Park and by that time, thousands of individuals have arrived. Everyone waited and so many of them sang "Go Cubs Go" and it was fantastic! The gates didn't open until 8:15 a.m. and everyone ran towards the security checks and settled in where they would like to spectate the parade. Everyone waited since the parade started at 10 a.m. at Wrigley Field until 12:15 p.m. where the rally was going to be held. The atmosphere was amazing and it was beautiful seeing a sea of blue that poured in as the day went on. Not only did Chicago prepare for the parade and rally, but also the CHICAGO RIVER was different! The city dyed it Cubbie Blue to commemorate the Cubs victory. I was glad to have been a part of this memorable event as a Cubs fan. Now that the years have passed, lets see if the Cubs could bring another win next year.. the city wont stop there.. that's for sure.
