Instead, Be "That Girl"

Whichever girl you choose to be, choose with confidence in that choice.

Urban dictionary's definition of "that girl" is a "female in a social situation that purposefully draws attention to herself, usually resulting in being that girl that is disliked."

Girls are known for tearing each other down rather than building each other up. It's almost a stereotype that girls are automatically crazy jealous of each other or just not friendly. Living in a society like this, rather than being "that girl" that is trying to draw negative attention to herself, be "that girl" that draws positive attention to herself.

Don't be the girl who is never happy for anyone else. Instead, be that girl that is always happy for others.

When someone is happy with something or someone in their life, who are you to tell them they can't be? Sure, you can disagree with some of their decisions that they are making, but that doesn't mean you should try to take their happiness away from them. If someone is happy, let them. No one wants to be around that girl who is just never happy for anyone. If you're happy for others, they will be happy for you. Being happy for other people will just radiate happiness into your life and who doesn't want that?

Don't be that girl that can't let go of the past. Instead, be that girl that accepts her past and moves on.

Let me start off by saying, that we have all gone through hardships. Some people's hardships are harder than others and it is unfortunate. However, if you live in the past, you will never move on to your future. Like the saying goes, "You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one." Which I can agree with 100 percent. Stop dwelling on all the negative experiences in your life and focus on better things that are ahead. It's okay to grief in different ways. Everyone needs to be able to express themselves, but in a healthy manner. Don't unintentionally bring yourself down by constantly trying to relive your dark past.

Don't be that girl that tries to please everyone. Instead, be that girl that pleases herself.

This is something that I struggle with because I often put other's before myself. Sometimes it's hard to put yourself first, but it's necessary. You will never please everyone, so make yourself happy. Be proud of your accomplishments and don't let the people around you stop you from chasing after what you want.

Whichever girl you choose to be, choose with confidence in that choice. You deserve to wake up every day and either be happy or the opposite with the choice you have made, so choose wisely.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
