Let me tell you something your conservative friends, if you still have any conservative friends, are too scared to tell you.
More than likely, you've been friends with a Trump supporter for months now. They're probably not telling you because they don't want to hurt your feelings because they know you support free speech until someone says something you don't like.
Here's a secret: Trump supporters are not the caricature of mouth-breathing, overall-wearing, gun toting rednecks you've been led to believe. They may be all around you and you may never know.
If you think I’m wrong or that I’m lying, then it proves how little you venture outside your socialist echo chamber.
If you think that Trump is a danger to free speech, you are sadly mistaken.
If you think that electing Trump is going to mean that you suddenly have to look like a white, Protestant nuclear family, or that rapists will terrorize the streets with renewed vigor, then here's something you probably haven't heard in a long time. You are wrong.
The President is not a social dictator. The President is an executor of the laws created by Congress. The President is not supposed to write their own laws. That's called a dictatorship. If someone is happy to write myriads of executive orders, then the system the founding fathers created has been hijacked and it's not functioning the way it was meant to.
You are the one who have created a hostile environment to anti-Bernie Sanders or anti-Hillary Clinton opinions. You are the ones strangling free speech and the perception of free speech. How?
You’re threatening to sever friendships. You’re threatening bodily harm. You’re inflicting bodily harm.
Lest you Hillary supporters think you’re off the hook, let me remind you that your organizers are the ones who are paid to cause fights at Trump rallies. You firebombed a GOP office in North Carolina. You vandalize private property. You pushed a homeless trump supporter around.
Maybe you like that. If you do, that is anti-first amendment and unAmerican. I challenge you to name a time when a Trump supporter did any of the above.
You were trumpeting your support for Bernie for months. You've been allowed to voice your support. Why aren't you allowing Trump supporters to do the same?
Imagine if your friends who did not support Bernie or Hillary had the same standard of tolerance you have. Imagine if your friends had the same level of religious zeal towards Trump you have toward Bernie and Hillary.
"We're right so we should be censoring wrong opinions."
Oh really?
Socialism is only a system of government (which has never worked). What if your children or grandchildren reject your ideas of what government ought to be?
"I'll raise my children to make sure they know what I tell them is true so that they don't accept an untrue opinion."
That's not very diverse. Also, I'm sure your parents said the same thing to themselves about you. That didn't work out so well for them, did it?
“I’m smarter than my parents.”
And your children will be smarter than you.
If you want to dismiss me personally and you've just defaulted into ad-hominem attacks and non-sequiturs that have nothing to do what I've said, then fine. Run back to your echo chamber and massage your feelings until you feel comfortable enough to take a step back out into the big, bad internet.
I hope you have more respect for your personal friends.
