8 Cheap Date Ideas for the Struggling College Couple

In This Article:

As college students, we are constantly trying to find ways to spend time with our significant others without breaking the bank. We're all out here trying to get this bread and it becomes increasingly difficult for us to go out on dates with that special someone. Luckily, after a year I have compiled a list of 8 great dates for you and your significant other to do while you're on that "ramen noodle dinner diet."

Study Date

I feel like this is pretty self evident, but taking the time for your academics is always important. Study dates are a great way to spend time together, while also getting your work done. Helping your significant other study their flash cards, or tutor them in a certain subject is a great way to bond and become closer as a couple. Plus, getting more knowledge out of it!

Bowling

Surprisingly, it's very easy to find deals at bowling alleys nearby. Where I live, there are several bowling alleys that charge $1.50 per game, or have free bowling hours during the week. It's a great way to get out there and do something silly and competitive.

Stay at Home Movie Night

Now while I'm sure a lot of us miss going to Blockbuster and picking out a movie, we do have services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video to help us watch our favorite movies without having to leave home. Set up your laptop or TV, order a pizza and maybe ask them to bring a few snacks and your date is good to go!

Gym Date

Trust me, even as a sophomore, I'm still out here trying to lose that Freshman Fifteen. What better way to spend time with your significant other than going to a gym or recreational center together. This date allows you to motivate each other to work harder, while also getting your body in shape after all the junk you've been eating the whole semester.

Cooking Dinner Together

There are so many ways to switch up your eating habits, doing so with your partner is a great way to not only try new foods, but a great way to bond together as a couple. Looking up some recipes on Tasty or Pinterest can help you elevate your ramen dinners into a nice stirfry, and allows you to work together with your significant other.

Sporting Event

Who doesn't love going to football game? Well, me, but that's besides the point. College is the perfect time to go out to a sporting event with your significant other. Because, you're a student, usually there are discounted tickets or season passes available for you to go cheer on your team with your honey for a relatively low price.

Coffee Date

After staying up all night working on a project, studying for two tests, and going to classes, it's tempting to go take a nap and sleep your worries away. However, if you need to get things done, and also want to be able to see your love, try a coffee date! Find a local coffee shop where you can get a little pick me up together to get yourselves through the rest of the day.

Window Shopping

Going to stores such as Ikea, Target, or even Walmart can be fun date ideas. Try playing a game, see who can find the most bizarre item in the store. See if maybe you can find a cheap and interesting candy to try! The possibilities are endless, who said window shopping had to be depressing?

As you can see, it doesn't take a whole lot of money to spend time with the person you love, and the busy life you have in college can always make time for others. Trying new things with your significant other is a great way to learn more about them, whether you've been dating for four months, or four years.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

In the 12 years since it went off the air, "Friends" continues to be adored by millions. Here are 17 times Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Rachel accurately described life.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
