6 Brown Siblings Problems, As Told By Drake
Atika Hemani

Your sibling is your best friend and when it comes to "brown" siblings we experience things no other siblings go through. Whether it's at home dealing with your parents or at random events dealing with aunties and uncles, you always have each other's back.

My brother is obsessed with Drake, so as a shoutout, I've created a list of some typical things all "brown" siblings go through with the help of Drake.

1. Walking in late to everything like...

You have always been late to everything since day one. The constant struggle of telling your parents that you have to be dropped off at 7 p.m. when the actual event doesn't start till 7:30 p.m, but they still manage to drop you at 8 p.m.

2. When your mom hits you with, "What do you want to eat?"

The constant struggle when your family can't decide what they want to eat for dinner and then your mom asks the inevitable question. You and your sibling just look at each other and at the same time say, "you can pick!" 10 minutes later after the listing of ten restaurants and everyone has their opinion of why they don't want to eat it, and in the end, your mom just ends up picking something.

3. OMG, I remember you when you were four years old *pinches cheeks*

The constant struggle of being somewhere and your parents introduce you to random aunties who claim to know you when you were four years old and know how tall you were and they expect you to know who they are. It's like I didn't even know myself when I was four years old and my parents taught me not to talk to strangers so bye felica.

4. "I'll go if you go."

Mom's second cousin's daughter's first birthday party: "I'll go if you go."

Dad's cousins' son's daughter-in-law's cousin's wedding reception: "I'll go if you go."

Mom bribes you to come to anything because the food will be good: "I'll go if you go."

5. When your mom is the plug.

When your mom makes biryani and you know you're going to eat three plates. The motto: you're here for a good time not a long time.

6. No new friends

You will always be there for each other! If your parents are mad at you for not working hard enough or you just can't seem to catch a break, your sibling is always there to laugh at you and make you feel better. Because at the end of the day, you still ride with your day one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
