With every terrorist attack on innocent lives, one has to wonder what the terrorists think they are gaining from the attacks, or more precisely, what they think they are gaining. Anyone that has seen the news would know that these terrorists are Islamic extremists who commits a series of violent acts as a result of hatred and ignorance. In the early 2000s, it was Al Qaeda, then the Taliban, and now it is ISIS. All of these groups are supposedly "Islamic" militants who feel the need to cause violence to gain passage to Paradise. This century, we have seen an upsurge of Islamic militants clashing with European, or "Western" ideologies to the brink of destruction.
As with the 9/11 attack on New York, to the Paris attack in 2015 and every other assualt in between, it is no doubt that these terrorists are not only attacking Western ideologies, but any ideology that does not comply with their own. "Islamic" terrorist organizations have made it acceptable to shed innocent blood in the name of religion. Recently, ISIS has made a name for itself with their attack on Paris last November and their ongoing genocide in the Middle East. The news covers their recent attacks, but no one ever cares to wonder where did they come from? Who is responsible for the creation and establishment of ISIS?
According to the Shia school of thought, the ISIS ideology began in Saudi Arabia, where they nurtured their children to think that they will be guaranteed a place in heaven if they were to have a strict fundamental view of Islam. These children are taught from birth to not think, but just fight. They are being fed the Wahhabi ideology since birth, which leads them to accept mass murder and genocide in the sake of religion and ethnic cleansing. To them, any Shia, Yazidi, Kurd or Christian is the "other' in Saudi. To them, the people they kill are not real people at all, but beneath humanity. ISIS is just a reaction from the Wahhabi ideology that has warped Islam to accommodate their needs.
Wahhabism was first was developed by Abudul Wahab in the 18th century and he learned from the doctrines of Ibn Taymiyyah. He wished to expand this ideology throughout Saudi Arabia and neighboring tribes so he took the help of the British government through a friend who supported his ideas and wished to help spread Wahhabism to the masses. At the time, Britain was producing new weaponry and was leading the world in warfare. By allying himself with them, he gained access to weaponry that he then used to spread his ideology. Now, this has escalated to the creation of ISIS.
We need to make a point at how this ideology does not correlate with the religion of Islam. In fact, the scholars in Ibn Taymiyyah's time denounced his practices and made a petition to kill him that they then presented to the ruler of Damascus, but instead of killing him he was sent to prison. His ideology was later expanded by Abdul Wahab to create a "purified" version of Islam, according to Ahlulbayt TV. Wahhabism is responsible for feeding the ISIS ideology to Saudis and ISIS is just a reaction to a misconstrued version of Islam. Do not blame Muslims for being terrorists, or even "ISIS supporters" because mainstream Islam does not believe in a strict fundamental interpretation, nor does it think the practices need to be purified. Rather, it encourages free thinking and denounces discrimination based on faith. It is not Islam that created ISIS, it was Wahabbism.
